Let me start this off ......

I knew I was a grown up when I realised that I had a range of envelopes from which to choose from 🙈 xxxx

What made you think you'd actually made it to be an actual 'grown up'?

When my parents started getting ill and struggling, and I had to start looking after them.

Tuliptulip · 24/07/2020 22:09

When I got some vomiting bug when I was still breastfeeding DD and had to feed her, pause to throw up, then go on feeding her when I would have infinitely preferred just to curl up in bed and suffer! There was literally no one else who could take over.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/07/2020 22:11

Tuliptulip yep been there!!!

When I realised I’m most happy watching escape to the chateau with a cup of coffee and a biscuit

HerBigChance · 24/07/2020 22:15

Viewing my brother in the chapel of rest and feeling responsible for how my parents would be feeling.

Shelby30 · 24/07/2020 22:28

When we bought our first house.

When I realised I was actively fancying (not just thinking "he'd have been lovely when he was younger") someone over forty.

I was 28.

NavyBerry · 24/07/2020 22:35

When I started to like olives. Remember detesting them at the age of 13 and then one day...

weareyoung · 24/07/2020 22:39

When my friend and I had a conversation about which was our favourite motorway to drive on.

ThickFast · 24/07/2020 22:42

I bought a stepladder.

Whoopsmahoot · 24/07/2020 22:45

When I had a child. Also when I felt chuffed when I saw my washing on the line on a sunny day

1moremum · 24/07/2020 22:47

I have had many of the house and appliance and parenting and partnering situations others have listed.

but my mom died last year. dad was already gone. there is no longer another more mature adult to contact to have a good moan. I am the adultiest adult, like it or not.

I am still not ready.

bronzedgodesswannabe · 24/07/2020 22:50

When I applied for my sons school place!
It Suddenly hit me I was responsible for an actual person not just a cute baby/toddler

Scary shit

ToLiveInPeace · 24/07/2020 22:52

Partly in retrospect, but when a cardiologist explained at about 3am that he was about to inject my husband's heart with a drug to make it stop and restart. (Could have done without the junkie popping by to steal needles around that time too).

Mumdiva99 · 24/07/2020 22:55

When I was made redundant from a job I loved. (And my friend said, "but you have 6 months savings to tide you through dont you?" I didn't, but did have a csr loan, rent and bills to pay....) It made me realise I was a proper grown up.

ThunderR0ad78 · 24/07/2020 22:59

When I started carrying stamps in my purse/bag!

bowchicawowwow · 24/07/2020 23:04

When I had DC1, my parents picked us up from the hospital and drove me and newborn DC home to my bedsit. I just remembered standing outside the front door feeling very overwhelmed and responsible all of a sudden.

Onesailwait · 24/07/2020 23:06

ooohhh It happened just last week. At the lake with Dh & kids and 2 youngish girls 15 or there abouts were kinda looking around scouting people out then they came over to us and asked if I had a band aid & tissues. Well that was my moment, I had a full on first aid kit including pain killers. Not gonna lie it made my day that they thought I looked like an actual adult who came prepared.

Dazzedandconfused · 24/07/2020 23:07

When I looked out my window one lovely sunny morning and my first thought was
"Brilliant I'll get loads of washing done and dried on the line"

WinWinnieTheWay · 24/07/2020 23:14

When I knew that my childhood home life and family values were batshit.

Cheerfullygo4 · 24/07/2020 23:18

When all the real grown ups started dying.

titnomatani · 24/07/2020 23:19

When I went into a department store and instead of heading for the makeup/clothes/shoes department, I went straight to 'homewares' 😂

elephantoverthehill · 24/07/2020 23:29

Two of my Dcs are over 18 now. Does that make me good at adulting?
