we have booked to take the kids ds8 and dd10 next week. First trip out in 19 weeks.

Kids are beyond excited. Has anyone been? Says we can enter from 10am..doesnt say there's a time limit on the day. Can you buy food in the swimming area? Any hints or tips please im feeling very nervous

Thanks

We went for a morning then went into Alton Towers. That was enough time for us.
I can’t remember food being available but this was about seven years ago. Have fun. I would love to be able to for a swim.

We went last year as part of a two night break at AT. I didnt feel it was worth the money but we usually go to Duinrell in Holland for our main holiday and their waterpark is way better so I'm probably comparing it to that unfairly! The kids liked it though. It had a couple of food bars poolside which we never used, unsure if they would be open atm?

I'm thinking about taking dc next week

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 24/07/2020 18:05

Mrspimplepopper · 24/07/2020 19:34

Been twice with ours and they loved it til they got too old. We live about 2 hours away and so get there 11/12 and stay til they kick us out about 6 if I recall. In normal times the sessions vary between ‘all day’ for out of season to smaller timed sessions when it’s peak.
Food - typical type you’d expect at AT.
For your 2 ages they will love it I imagine! Booking AT for the same day would be too much I think...

Teacher12345 · 24/07/2020 19:53

We went and it was nice but not a full day thing. Can't remember about food.

WoahBodyforrrm · 14/08/2020 14:56

@mrspimplepopper How did you get on at splash landings?

I’m thinking of booking up but wasn’t sure whether there are any restrictions in place due to COVID.

Could you get food in there?

I hope you had a lovely time!

We went one afternoon, stayed in a hotel overnight (not splash landings but a Premier Inn) and then did Alton Towers the next day.

It's a bit tired I'd say. The new Wave park in Coventry looks much better!

yumyumpoppycat · 14/08/2020 15:47

We went as part of a trip to Alton towers a few years ago it was the cheapest package option and it was fine for that but I wouldn't go just for the pool. I don't remember if there were pool snacks but there was some kind of bar in the hotel near the pool

yumyumpoppycat · 14/08/2020 15:51

I would prob only add park tickets if staying overnight though.

Bumpinthenight · 14/08/2020 15:53

We went a few years ago. Snack bars poolside but we could leave then reenter to eat in the hotel.

LunaLoveFood · 14/08/2020 16:02

Absolutely love it there. We went for an over night stay and spent 2 awhile days at the water park, DC then asked to go again for his birthday 3 weeks later. So we spent another weekend there. Our DC are 8 and 6 (one with ASD) and so didn't do any of the big slides but spent the days on the outside slides and play area. Food was reasonably priced and lots of tables to sit at. They also cater really well for allergy's in all of their hotels.

We will definitely be going again and I'm looking forward to when the boys are older so they want to go on the bigger slides.

LunaLoveFood · 14/08/2020 16:04

We took dressing gowns for DC to wear while sitting and eating which worked well.

LunaLoveFood · 14/08/2020 16:13

I'm so glad I found this thread, I hadn't realised splash landing was open yet and I've now booked for next weekend!

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 14/08/2020 17:19

We have mwrlin passes so were hopjng to do splash landings in the morning and alton towers in the afternoon/early eve..

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 14/08/2020 17:19

Is that too much?

Nosuchluck · 14/08/2020 17:48

If say to go to Alton Towers first and then Splash Landings after when you had enough walking around.
We've done both in a day as had Merlin passes.

daisybrown37 · 14/08/2020 17:51

@PineappleUpsideDownCake

Is that too much?
If you are going soon, bear in mind the Monorail is not running, so you need to walk from the Waterpark/hotel to the main entrance or move your car. It does add a fair amount of hassle to your day!
