What font is your CV in?

Someone mentioned to me earlier that apparently Times New Roman looks old-fashioned, and doesn't look good on a modern CV?

I know it's different for graphic designers, but for the rest of us, what font do you use? Some must look more professional than others.

I must admit I did once do a double-take when I received a CV in Comic Sans! Luckily that was a one-off.

Always always Calibri!!!

achickencalledberyl · 23/07/2020 19:30

@tectonicplates

Arias, tnr is awful and I would judge an applicant

Eeek! I'm definitely going to change mine.

Me too. I review CVs for my job at times.

Anything scrolling or TNR looks awful.

ghislaine · 23/07/2020 19:30

I use Arial. I used to hate it and always preferred Palatino. Now I don’t know what I was thinking!

I changed after having to prepare slides for a visually impaired person. The RNIB guidance said that sans serif fonts were much easier to read. I switched and have never looked back!

I find Calibri too ‘thin’ for my tastes.

Mine is calibri, we respond to all emails in work in calibri too it is the default font. I like it.

achickencalledberyl · 23/07/2020 19:31

Sorry that was meant to be that I'd judge TNR not that I will change my cv.

I do need to blow dust of it though but that's another story!

GirlInterrupted · 23/07/2020 19:39

Ooh, I found my people. Calibri should be everywhere!! On books in papers, declaration of independence, you name it!

Nothing else. Full stop

Alonelonelyloner · 23/07/2020 19:49

I use Calibri and changed all our work documentation to Calibri too.

SwedishEdith · 23/07/2020 19:58

Calibri is safe but quite boring. I like Trebuchet because I like the name. Verdana is a good one as well.

PaperMonster · 23/07/2020 19:59

I like Tahoma.

opinionatedfreak · 23/07/2020 20:06

Arial.

baublegirl353 · 23/07/2020 20:52

I write CVs for a living. We recommend Arial, Calibri or Verdana. TNR is awful

ReceptacleForTheRespectable · 23/07/2020 20:54

I use Calibri or Verdana

pandora206 · 23/07/2020 20:57

Calibri is standard in many Local Authority and other public organisations, although Arial is sometimes used. Times New Roman would be regarded as old fashioned for a CV.

MoverOfPaper · 23/07/2020 20:58

@GoshHashana

Dingbats.
Grin did you get the job @GoshHashana?
merryhouse · 23/07/2020 20:59

I use Arial I think, or possibly Calibri

but

I love Comic Sans! I don't get why everyone is so snotty about it.

I do wonder if it would have been better received with a different name.

UnfinishedSymphon · 23/07/2020 21:09

Calibri here too, it's our work font too, was arial and before that times new Roman

tectonicplates · 23/07/2020 21:27

Thank you so much everyone. It's such an easy change to make, too. Hopefully it'll make a big difference.

redeyetonowheregood · 23/07/2020 21:31

I prefer calibri light to calibri. It is restful. I cannot abide times New Roman.

Pregnantandredundant · 23/07/2020 21:35

Calibri, size 9. I’m concerned 9 is too small but I think 10 looks too big

IwishIhadaMargarita · 23/07/2020 21:44

Calibri is ok fo e-mails but nothing else. I’d not produce any documents in it.

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 24/07/2020 00:27

Mine is in Gill sans, maybe a bit old fashioned too now but I like it!

Bluemanakin · 24/07/2020 00:38

Raleway

HansBanans · 24/07/2020 00:43

If I had to choose it would be either Arial, Calibri, Gill Alt or Tahoma.

CoffeeRunner · 24/07/2020 00:46

Well due to my job & training I only apply for stuff through NHS jobs. I don’t have an actual printed on paper CV.

I don’t know what the font NHS jobs use is called.

FlorenceFlounce · 24/07/2020 00:50

Calibri size 10.5 Grin
