I hope next year is way better than 2020! I cannot wait until New Year’s Eve!

Does anyone else think next year will be a lot better?

Brexit
That is all

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 23/07/2020 00:28

I hope so!

No, sorry. It will be the economic, mental and emotional fallout of 2020.

In better news, I don’t think there will be a new global pandemic for 2020 so I suppose there is that.

labyrinthloafer · 23/07/2020 00:33

I chuffing hope so! This year has been absolute dogshit.

Oh, it certainly has. I can’t wait to see the back of it. January and February were the only two good months of this year. End of March and April were by far the worst

Sad I am trying to be positive. I have almost forgotten about C as cases are so low in my area.

IdblowJonSnow · 23/07/2020 00:45

I wouldn't even dare to tempt fate!
Certainly been a shitty year so far! Vaccine stuff looks promising at least.

labyrinthloafer · 23/07/2020 00:46

Im finding time itself weird, I feel like march was aeons ago, but of course nothing's happened! I hope 2021 goes by in the normal way.

It has been weird. For next, I expected lockdown to drag in. But I honestly do think it went in quite quickly. But yes I do hope 2021 is just a normal year, please let it be

Not in the U.K.

Sorry OP.

The transition period comes to an end and all the negative effects of Brexit begin in earnest.

Next year's going to be quite some degree worse.

penelopeplums · 23/07/2020 02:12

I hope so, this year has messed up three big birthdays, a university graduation and GCSEs as well as my dad's funeral so it's hard to see how next year could be worse. It's not going to be a good year though, how can it be.

TerraMirabilis · 23/07/2020 02:30

Certainly hope so. We're stuck in phase 1 of reopening here in the US. Part-time school at best when DS starts school in the autumn. Nowhere to take kids and nothing to do for months now.

Bloodybridget · 23/07/2020 02:45

If the Covid-19 pandemic is sufficiently controlled, with an effective vaccine and treatments, so all the restrictions, masking, etc. can stop, that will make a huge difference for the better. But economically and socially, I reckon most of the world will be in a very bad place - certainly the UK will be.

StinkySink · 23/07/2020 02:47

No, probably not but here’s hoping.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/07/2020 02:49

I don’t think so. There will be a lot of financial strife for people. I think we’ll all have some trouble processing this year and the kids, who knows, but it’s not going to be sunshine and happiness

managedmis · 23/07/2020 02:52

Meh

safariboot · 23/07/2020 02:57

Hell no. 2021 is going to be when the negative economic impact of coronavirus really strikes. Combined with the impacts from Brexit. And throw in a possible US-China trade war.

FinallyHere · 23/07/2020 02:57

We are hurtling towards a no-deal Brexit, which if it is allowed to happen, will cause disruption of supply chains on a scale which will dwarf anything what we have seen this year.
