Was this just a bit eccentric or downright weird?

It happened a long time ago and the DC involved is now an adult, with no apparent long term harm but I relayed this story to a friend, who was horrified. I was telling the story of a lovely grandad who did things his own way but who the DGC benefited enormously from having in their life.

DS was about 2yo and my DDad was minding him one day per week while I worked. Dad is a bit eccentric but he's very capable and adores his DGC.

I got home one evening to find DS in his nappy and DDad in his underpants with the heating turned up high. DS had been sick a number of times (which I knew nothing about until I got home) resulting in numerous clothing changes and DDad had decided not to create any more washing.

Unusual but not sinister, or is it?

I don’t find anything wrong with that story except it’s funny and quite sweet he washed and ironed all the clothes.

So sad that people are quick to call things like this sinister.

TheBigFatMermaid · 22/07/2020 16:57

I think your friend is weird for finding it weird.

BearSoFair · 22/07/2020 17:08

I wouldn't have found it weird at all, it's something I could imagine my own Grandad doing! I love that he managed to get all the clothes washed and ironed, he sounds fab!

Your friend is the weird one for finding it weird!

Santasunhelpfulhelper · 22/07/2020 17:40

I think it sounds really funny and practical. It’s a shame your friend, but a negative spin on it.

Cam2020 · 22/07/2020 17:48

Sounds like man logic to me! Nothing sinister IMO.

I would have said delightfully eccentric.
Really sad that people look to find the sinister in everything.

Thimble282 · 22/07/2020 18:10

How sad that anyone would think that was sinister!! It’s a funny story. Well done to your dad for being so practical and hands on. Bit upsetting that someone would put a different spin on it.
