Who uses Work Phone as Personal?

Have smart phone for work. Checked with manager and he is fine for me to use it for personal use, obviously within reason.

Personal phone out of contract, and am considering using only work phone. The downfalls of course being that there would be a lack of privacy, but tbh, don't really have much to hide, don't visit dodgy websites etc.

The benefits being that I could get rid of personal phone - work phone has facility for 2 SIMs.

Thoughts?

My husband has done this in the last 2 jobs. As long as you are very good at setting personal boundaries outside of work hours it can work well.

Financially it sounds a good idea if as antisocial says you can keep personal boundaries. I guess there's also more scope for you to lose your work phone if you're taking it out everywhere with you, do you know if you would be liable if (for example) you lost it on a night out?

Conversely if it's actually carrying 2 phones, DH has his work phone set up to divert to his personal phone and keeps the work phone only for calls to premium rate numbers, usually technical help lines. This means he only carries one phone with him and leaves the other stashed in his work bag / van.

I have a phone with 2 sims but I actually only use 1 sim and 1 number across all my work and personal life and have done for years.

I find it absolutely fine, I hate having to check different places. Anyone can get me via one number on phone, text or whatsapp. I also have a personal and work emails and work slack which I can see from that phone. I will also respond to linked in messages.

The flipside is that I have had voicemail switched off for years, try and avoid facebook messenger wherever possible and never answer the phone unless I can see who it is. Even then I much prefer people to whatsapp or email me so I can respond when convenient.

its my phone but I expense the whole monthly cost to work (because its on unlimited data and minutes and the monthly cost is less that my company expense policy)
