Household objects that sing to you

Does anyone else get this?

Every morning our coffee machine starts up with the intro to ‘Cuz I Love You’ by Slade.

This gives me an earworm until I start up my laptop, which springs to life with the opening bars of ‘Nothing Compares 2U’ by Sinead O’Connor.

If I point out either of these to my family they just look at me like this Hmm but I can hear it so clearly?

Does anyone else have gadget karaoke going on in their house?

Sorry about the random question mark.

My Samsung washing machine sings when it’s finished. I like it.

LunaNorth · 22/07/2020 08:04

Is there a discernible tune?

I remember I used to sing ‘girl on the roof’ to the tune of Windows shutting down, too Blush

I'm pretty sure the beeping of DHs alarm in the morning is saying 'Get out of bed! Get out of bed!' (it's four beeps, the last being slightly longer, than a pause before the next set)

My fridge freezer plays the theme tune to “The Flumps” if you leave the doors open. Well- it plays the fist bit of it.

Mamette · 22/07/2020 08:07

First bit 😐

bananamonkey · 22/07/2020 08:19

Lauren Laverne did a feature on these a while ago!

Not a household object but I love the tube barrier that sings the woohoo bit from Song 2

Andthewinnerislucky · 22/07/2020 08:19

My bed sings 'Come a little bit closer' and the fridge and cupboards always sing 'Don't stop me now'.

LunaNorth · 22/07/2020 08:19

@Mamette I’m jealous. I’d love that nostalgia trip first thing in the morning.

Do-do. Do-do. Do-dooo-do-do.

Um. No. But I'm not really musically inclined. Sounds quite nice for you though.

LunaNorth · 22/07/2020 08:21

@bananamonkey that’s great!

Have you seen this?

dudsville · 22/07/2020 08:26

Mine don't, but i love your style. My oh head a way of pausing a few words into a sentence. It often triggers me thi sting a few bars of a tune depending on the words.

dudsville · 22/07/2020 08:27

Or depending on the rhythm of what he's said.

LunaNorth · 22/07/2020 08:29

@dudsville that reminds me of the time when my Dad shouted, “Hey! You!” at me when I was doing something I shouldn’t, and I automatically responded with, ‘The Rocksteady Crew!’

That went well Blush

Oo-er, Samsungs are a bit refined, aren’t they?

Feel a bit ashamed of my plebby Slade-fan coffee machine.

Grin it only does the “do-do do-do” part but my brain fills in the “doo do” bit so it’s all good.

It is a Samsung actually, funnily enough.

Mamette · 22/07/2020 15:20

It’s just beeps though. Not posh piano!

My dryer plays doe-ray-mi repeatedly at speed in the key of frantic, which doesn’t endear it to me at all. The stuff is dry, great. Chill out ffs.
