very dramatic title I know!
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago (typically I cannot find it now to see where it got up to) but it was about a BIL asking his brother for a loan of the brother's share of their mother's inheritance. BIL had burnt through his share on fancy stuff (cars, kitchen, holiday) and was now at threat of redundancy due to C-19.
The reason it resonated with me was the amount he was asking to loan was roughly what I have on credit cards/loans, due to joining in on a property venture. BUT I don't have anyone to ask for a loan of that magnitude (I do, but I would not ask). It also resonated because it was at peak C-19, I work on short term contracts and I suddenly thought: I do not want to leave behind that amount of debt.
There was LOADS of good advice on that thread and the next day I cut up all the credit cards I have, and started paying off chunks of the outstanding credit. Today one card was cleared; and now I am onto the next one. I will not make another big purchase until they are all cleared off.
The second I cut those cards up the feeling of lightness was indescribable and every time since then that I have paid off a little bit of that debt, I have thanked the OP.
Anyone else?
