Perfect meal alone

Hello!

Please tell me what your perfect meal would be if you were eating on your own (that you cook yourself)?

I very seldomly get to eat alone, so I want it to be delicious!

Thanks

Prawn crackers and spring rolls!! No fuss +a pure treat!
Ate the lot myself!

What? I have to cook it too?

In that case, something simple like a prawn and avocado salad.

I tend to go for proteiny salads when it's just me as the tastiness/labour ratio is ideal.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 21/07/2020 12:20

Probably a whole camembert baked with garlic, crusty loaf and a lemony rocket salad with roasted tomatoes and capers. Marinated olives and artichokes while the cheese bakes. Lots of red wine and something chocolately for dessert –the Gu brownies that you pop in the microwave would be ideal!

I love tuna pasta bake with salad and garlic bread.

Shmithecat2 · 21/07/2020 12:24

Mussels (a fresh couple of kilos in their shells), steam cooked in white wine, cream and onion, with a massive crusty baguette.

Sexnotgender · 21/07/2020 12:25

Do I need to actually cook? I’d just want some delicious fresh bread, salted butter and a selection of cheese. Plus a bottle of white wine.

LatteLover12 · 21/07/2020 12:30

I'd probably go for a baked Camembert with crusty bread and a large glass of red so there was minimal cooking but, when I chucked exh out a few years ago I would sometimes but the M&S £10 deal and eat it all myself 🐷 Blush

Squishedpickle · 21/07/2020 12:30

It doesn't have to be a cooked thing, I'm just not ordering in! Excellent ideas so far, thanks

Really amazing macaroni cheese. I make one with beef mince in it that is out of this world.

BarbaraofSeville · 21/07/2020 12:32

Prawns in a chilli/garlic oil with crusty bread to mop up the juices and a bottle of cava. Preferably eaten in the garden in hot weather so I can close my eyes and pretend I'm in Spain.

Takes less than 5 minutes to make and utterly delicious. I don't really count it as cooking, but you could keep sliced garlic in olive oil if you wanted to make it even less effort on the day.

Carpet tapas
Chilli sensations and dips
Bree
Goats cheese
Onion chutney
Crackers

Crusty bread
Hummus and crudetes
Maybe some nice meats
Nice bottle of white or fizz

A big fuck off steak with salad.

golddustwomen · 21/07/2020 13:23

I would order !

But if I was cooking I would do a bacon pasta, garlic bread and lots of beer!
OR nachos covered in chilli with lots of cheese, jalapeños & sour cream. Also with lots of beer.

Therealjudgejudy · 21/07/2020 13:33

Turkey steaks cooked with onions, red and yellow peppers and cherry tomatoes. Served with sweet potato mash and tenderstem broccoli. Also gravy for the mash. Im cooking this for myself this evening...Smile

GetTheSprinkles · 21/07/2020 13:50

Spicy prawn linguini with garlic bread. Tiramisu for dessert. Either red wine or prosecco for drinks.

hellsbellsmelons · 21/07/2020 14:00

A lovely spaghetti bolognaise.
I always make loads and portion it out and freeze it so I can have it whenever I want.
Once pasta is cooked, plate that, add some parmesan and cheddar, then put the bolognaise on. Then mix it all in and add another load of cheese on top.
I like mine spicy so I also add chili flakes.
Ohhhhh.... I might have to get a portion out of the freezer now!

A far easier version I do is pasta, cook it. Drain it and back on the heat. Add a load of sundried tomato pesto and cheese and mix in.
Then plate and add another load of cheese.
Bit of a theme here.

If you want really easy then cheese a biscuits with a bottle of port!

missyB1 · 21/07/2020 14:02

Quiche Lorraine with a Greek salad.

LimpidPools · 21/07/2020 14:16

Seafood linguini with a spicy tomato sauce. Or a really good steak.

Crucial is that it shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes to cook. Slaving over a hot stove ruins things completely.

Things that can look after themselves in the oven are also permitted. Like a jacket potato (to go with the steak) or a roast chicken (to eat with crusty bread).

Nice leafy green salad would be very likely to make an appearance too.

leafeater · 21/07/2020 14:17

Parma ham, shaved Parmesan cheese, avocado, crusty bread, drizzled with oils and balsamic, white wine....

GracieLane · 21/07/2020 14:47

I would probably actually have a frozen lasagne, baked in the oven, with peas, garlic bread and chips. None of the cooking, all of the Joy!

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 21/07/2020 14:51

A massive bowl of tuna pasta bake made with a shit ton of cheese, garlic bread then chocolate cheesecake 😋

Happynow001 · 21/07/2020 14:55

If I’m cooking for myself, I often do something casserole-y as ds wont eat anything with gravy, so a beef and Guineas stew with Stilton dumplings, or pork and apple casserole with cheese and onion mash and creamy leeks. Or if I’m feeling lazy, I do pasta with tuna, sweet corn and mayo stirred through and loads of black pepper.
