Will this make me sick

I did an online grocery order for delivery yesterday.

A few minutes ago, after breakfast, I had a piece of babybel cheese that came with the shop. It left a weird taste in my mouth. I checked the date afterwards and it was a use by date by the 7.7.2020. That is 7th of July.

Will this make me sick? This is my first concern. I don't have time for a cold nevermind getting sick.

My main concern is sickness. I think I might take it up with tesco. They shouldn't be delivering out of date food.

You'll be fine.

milienhaus · 21/07/2020 07:12

You won’t be sick, but I agree Tesco shouldn’t be sending out food past date and I would raise it with them.

No

Pumpertrumper · 21/07/2020 07:20

Highly doubt it.
I would personally freak out about it and probably make myself sick with anxiety...but DH quite frequently eats things past their use by date, usually by a few days but cheese is a bit like wine in that it’s generally stored for months and months beforehand so unlikely to go off over night.

Babybel cheese is so processed I that I highly doubt there is anything in it that can harm you.

conduitoffortune · 21/07/2020 07:24

Bet you can eat that stuff for years after it's sell by date.

YellowWave · 21/07/2020 07:26

It looked good and it smelt fine. So hopefully it won't make me sick.

I'm similar to you. I would worry myself sick with anxiety. I will see how I am over the next few more hours.

How would I raise this with tesco? I won't be near a physical shop anytime soon. Do I send an email? Or do I wait for my next delivery day.

There was a taste at the back of my throat that I'm still washing away with water.

I have eaten Babybels that are months out of date with no ill effects, but I’d be really annoyed with Tesco if they sent me food that was 2 weeks out of date!

Oblomov20 · 21/07/2020 07:33

No. Only your severe anxiety will. But I'd be complaining to Tesco re their poor out of date food.

Sunnysidegold · 21/07/2020 07:38

Take a picture of the packet and the date and message Tesco via their website. I did this recently when I found a bug in my "washed and ready to use" salad. They got back to me the following day.

Sorry, posted too soon. I'm sure you will be fine, babybels are tiny.
