Quick Twitter question

If you upload some photos on twitter, is there any way people can see when the photos were taken? And if so, would they need to be a follower?

I think normally what you post is always public unless you block someone from seeing your tweets. Blocks are individual. It's more of an opt-out of being seen rather than an opt-into being seen system (kind of opposite of Fbk).

Twitter is a lousy place to be socially private. Use other SM platforms if you want a private community or group.

Posts are time-stamped but it's the post that's time-stamped, not the image itself. You could post today a pic you took 10 yrs ago.

Just to add, you can have your Twitter account private and people have to request to follow (like Instagram) but it sort of defeats the point as you can't join conversations with people who don't follow you, they won't see your replies.

Thank you! It was the time-stamp issue I was thinking of. So if someone posts a picture today of themselves in a location, there is no way to know whether the photo was taken ages ago or not.

It’s what I thought, but I wasn’t sure if some sort of advanced search thingy existed (for super-sleuths and nosy people). I was trying to settle an argument between two people but it sounds like there’s no way of settling it. I’ll just butt out then!

If it's of themselves then anybody who knows them would be able to tell but nobody else.

Don't know about Twitter but Facebook photos show those details if geotagged. You can switch geotag off though on your phone.
