Need help re probate and the Will

We applied for probate weeks ago, should be fairly simple (we thought) DH is the only surviving member of his family and we knew who the solicitors were, we sent off for the Will and when it arrived it stated that DH's Mum had left everything to him so we forwarded it onto Probate with the fee.

We've had a response from Probate today, helpfully after they had closed and they're saying the Will we sent isn't the original Will. The Will was sent to us by MIL's solicitors so surely it has to be the original? MIL's solicitor was taken over years ago by another solicitor who kept the documents could this be the reason Probate think it's not the original?

Has anyone else had this?

How strange, my parents had copies but the Solicitor had the originals. Was there a copy of the will at your DMIL's which could be the original?

If the solicitors sent it state it was the original will then you will need to ask them about it. Are the probate registry saying its a photocopy of the Will?

Was there any stamps on the will saying it was a certified copy?

We have now spoken to someone from probate and they have no knowledge if who sent their email even though it came from their email address with their reference on it . They've said the Will is indeed the original and that they're processing the Probate today and we should receive it in the next few days as there's no issues.

Whilst I'm very relieved it's all fine I am a bit worried about the other email in case it's someone trying to scam us but how would it come from their offices with their generated reference ?
