How would you cost this journey?

Hi,
I don't want to be a CF so need a bit of help in how to split costs here.

Ferry trip to holiday destination. Couple A have small budget but will be doing all the driving and petrol costs etc once at holiday destination. Person B has option of being foot passenger on later ferry or meet up with Couple A for car ferry and subsequent transport on holiday. Ferry costs are higher than expected.

If Person B is met by Couple A to all get ferry together how would you split ferry cost- 1/3 to Person B and 2/3 to Couple A?
Nominal donation by Person B?
Cost that Person B would have paid if going by foot?

Help!

Assuming that b is going to benefit from the car after the ferry journey the cost of ferry should be spilt three ways so b pays 1/3

A third by person B as surely bring a car passenger is easier than carrying cases etc as a foot passenger so they benefit too

Total price split 1/3 and 2/3.
Anything else means the potential to argue over minor details. Keep it simple.

I would split 2/3 1/3. If person b didn't take the car ferry wouldn't they have public transport costs as well

Thanks all. Person B would be taking train to ferry port anyway, Couple A driving. It would only be on island that Couple A will be doing all the driving.

Cost of ferry ticket is not affected by number of passengers so Couple A would benefit by sharing cost, however as it would be at a later time to meet Person B, the cost has gone up (couple A we're going to get earlier/cheaper ferry)
