Anyone good at Googling?

I am trying to buy replacement parts for a clothes airer. It's the bit that joins it together. I have Googled for ages and can only find the instructions for making them on a 3d printer.

Does anyone know where I could buy any. I can't get it to stand up without it.
Thanks

I'm good at googling (and have used that skill in a couple of jobs) and would try something like

"Airer connector join blue plastic buy"

  • but if you've managed to find 3D printer instructions for making them (who knew?!) then I reckon you're pretty good too!

Otherwise find a specialist (possibly expensive) laundry equipment retailer and search their site or ring them?

What make is it? Minky and another brand do spares on their sites.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 08:32

Thank you. I will give that a go.

I got as far as finding out that they’re called “hinge clips” but couldn’t find much info for spares.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 08:35

I don't know the make unfortunately it was from Tesco a few years ago. It was their own brand one.

Can you make your own with sugru? Shape to size and leave to dry? You could probably dry it shaped onto the frame whilst closed

Here you go.. www.bpfonline.co.uk/search.asp?catid=2964

They all look out of stock at the moment though but maybe you can use the descriptors to find them elsewhere?

yeOldeTrout · 20/07/2020 08:37

2 rubber bands would do that job (DIY).

TroysMammy · 20/07/2020 08:37

I've got one of those that I now use in the garden as a frame for climbing squash. I'm still in bed at the moment but will go out after to see if the blue bits are still on it and what condition they are in. You're quite welcome to them if they are still there and ok.

LonginesPrime · 20/07/2020 08:40

John Lewis do a similar kind of airer so I'd give them a ring.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 08:40

Thank you for the ideas.

Thank you @TroysMammy that would be great.

Really sorry I only have the one and part of it is split. I've had a good rummage around in the grass to see if the other one was there but I only found slugs eyeing up my veg (I'll sort them out later). I've had a look in the shed where it was and nothing sorry. It could also be in amongst the creativity mess I call a craft room. Here's a photo of the bits I've found.

If it's any help the word Auriol is stamped on them.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 10:02

@TroysMammy no problem. Thank you for looking.

I couldn't get mine to stand up properly it was always wonky even with the blue bits. I think that is why I eventually used it in the garden as a frame for veg.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 11:02

@TroysMammy I know what you mean. They aren't very sturdy. I have put some cable ties on it for now. It's fine for light things but nothing heavy.

TroysMammy · 20/07/2020 11:10

If I do come across it at any point I'll let you know.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 11:29

@TroysMammy Thanks.

The pp above has got it right - the easy answer is rubber bands, twisted several times in a figure-of-eight formation, so there is hardly any slack. They work even better than the blue plastic things, because they never pop off.

Villanemme · 20/07/2020 12:06

I googled 'parts of an airer' and some of the images looked like what you are after.

ExclamationPerfume · 20/07/2020 12:15

@Villanemme Thanks. They are either out of stock or you have to order 1000. I did find them before.

Haha I didn't read that bit!

TroysMammy · 30/09/2020 11:31

@ExclamationPerfume I've just messaged you with some good news Smile
