Hi i am 25 weeks pregnant and realised i ate ice cream that was 'gently pasteurised'. I am worrying now that this is not ok and it wasn't properly pasteurised. Can anyone provide any reassurance. Thanks

what is gently pasteurised?

Apparently its flash pasteurisation where they heat it quickly and then cool it quickly. Preserves nutrients but kills bacteria. Alternative is UHT which can affect flavour but greatly extends shelf life. I imagine fresh fruit juices, milk, etc get flash pasteurised but still needs kept in the fridge whereas uht stuff can be kept on the shelf at room temperature
