Toilet with sink above cistern

I have separate loo and bathroom, and too little room to add basin near toilet, I don't like visitors using family bathroom next door to loo to wash their hands, thinking of getting one of these instead, but wondered how accessible sink was if leaning across toilet basin? Not enough room to stand next to my loo to reach basin, not sure if this would be very usable eg my elderly parents or young children ?? Feedback welcomed.

I guess people can stand to the side of the loo and lean over to wash their hands?

Hi, I've got one of these as our WC room is separate from the bathroom - it's great! We can stand to the side to access the sink so it's no problem for us, but we could easily lean over to wash our hands if we hadn't the space around the side.

These are very common in Japan. When I was there they had them in most apartments. I think they are an excellent idea for small spaces.
I’ve not seen one in UK though.

We've got one. It's a tiny downstairs toilet so made a lot more space. Might not work with young children unless you can get to side of toilet but for us it works

I saw one in a cafe once (in the UK) and thought it was a brilliant idea. I managed to wash my hands fine.

We looked at these for our downstairs cloakroom but we're talked out of it by our plumber and someone else as they go wrong. We managed to get a WC with the sink next to it in a vanity unit that was 950mm wide.

I went to view a house with one in the en-suite. I found it wierd and i knew I’d hate it.

@37KAT where did you get your unit? This might be suitable instead

It's clever due to the water usage but I'd only want it in an occasional or tiny cloakroom as you need a decent sink for washing faces etc, and who'd want to brush their teeth over a toilet?

Had one in a previous rental. Very splashy as you're leaning over. The seat would get wet and also the walls. Also, I'd recommend looking in to whether you can access the cistern easily. The cistern itself got smelly and it wasn't possible to access it to clean, so we just had to throw bleach down.

Space and water saving, but not necessarily ideal for a regularly used bathroom. Also, if having guests, you will need to explain. Had so many who couldn't work out how to use it!

If you google 950mm WC vanity unit, lots come up. They're all quite similar & you can have the WC on either side. It looks great!
Only small issue we had was that the water tank is small (environmentally good) so the flush took a bit of adjusting.

Just to clarify, sink would only be used for washing hands, certainly no teeth cleaning !!!
Looking at combined unit as groundfloor cloakroom 87cm wide, with central to back wall loo / waste.

We have one in our downstairs toilet. It does get a bit splashy if you're not careful. But I don't mind it. Personally I use the upstairs bathroom because it's roomier anyway. It tends to be the kids that use the downstairs toilet.

If you can't reach out from the side I wouldn't.

Kids would have to stand on the toilet to reach, hands drip as they move for a towel so you get attractive droplets on the toilet seat and the sinks are often very shallow.

I've got one, it was the only way to get a bath in as well in what was previously a shower room. I got the one from Victoria Plumbing. The tails on the taps were too short and the plumber had to improvise. he tried to sort getting replacements from VP but the people on the phone there just didn't understand what he was talking about.

Another plumber saw it later and was very dubious. He said water from the sink, teeth brushing and hand washing etc, could get mixed up with the drinking water supply due to the way it was designed. He was so shocked I didn't tell him I save on water by filling the cistern with old bath water. The sink bit does lift off for washing. Once I saw how much hair had got trapped inside I no longer use bath water very often

As it's made it possible for me to have a bath I love it, but don't really know about this feeding back of grey water into the drinking water. My first plumber who installed it didn't mention this.

Concerning children using it, I agree. It won't work well. grandchildren can use the bath taps .

You could check whether there is the possibility of stealing a bit of space from the plaster on the walls, to squeeze in a 950 mm unit. Would be tight but possibly doable depending on the wall structurez
