Stupidly booked my fee NHS ticket for September instead of when I'm actually in Cornwall.Confused is it worth paying full price for?

No, I don’t think so.

megletthesecond · 19/07/2020 19:32

It's lovely. But we've been loads of times so we don't feel the need to cram it all in. The tickets are an annual pass so we often went on the way into Cornwall and on the way home.

Kids started going as pre-schoolers and still loved it this year in Feb, eldest is a teen. Would like to get back at Xmas.

MrsT1405 · 19/07/2020 19:32

Really didn't reckon much to it and staff were
up themselves

Kez200 · 19/07/2020 19:34

Wont they change your free date?

Its not worth it in my opinion but its a quite interesting place to visit. Pity its so expensive

Pommes · 19/07/2020 19:34

Value for money isn't great but definitely as a one-off. We go on every visit to Cornwall but I always feel a little bit underwhelmed.

bluebird243 · 19/07/2020 19:34

I hated it. Tacky. Better to visit a NT garden if you love plants. Cafe grubby.

pennysea · 19/07/2020 19:37

I was planning on visiting soon as I don't think I'm going to bother going abroad this year. Is it really not worth visiting?

Aworldofmyown · 19/07/2020 19:38

Its a lovely place, however it is getting a bit tired unfortunately.
You have to remember though, its an educational charity, not a large business making money hand over fist.
It does a lot to support the local community so I don't begrudge the cost

ShinyFootball · 19/07/2020 19:38

We had a brilliant day there a few years back. Can't remember how much it was not it's unlikely we'd be back that way any time soon so coughed up whatever it was.

Amazing meal in the ?med place lovely and warm, little birds tweeting around.

Lost gardens of heligan were brilliant as well

Gin4thewin · 19/07/2020 19:39

The domes were good. Found the rest of it pretty boring and wouldnt go again, far too expensive. Food was very expensive aswell and was fancy crap

willowandsage · 19/07/2020 19:41

I went last year and really enjoyed it, found the cafe staff really helpful!

ShinyFootball · 19/07/2020 19:41

Agree the domes are better than the outside which was a pretty nothingy

Loved the domes though

Roystonv · 19/07/2020 19:44

Glad we went as would always have wondered what we missed (we live in Cumbria so can't just pop back) but not as special as I hoped it would be so, pleasant but nothing more.

Bellie99 · 19/07/2020 19:46

Went last year and used my Tesco vouchers for payment. Enjoyed our day but as we came out I and my partner both said we were glad that we didn't pay full price for family of 5 as other attractions are better value for money.

Mintjulia · 19/07/2020 19:47

I took my ds who was 10. I thought it was expensive and crowded but quite interesting, and the food was reasonable.

My son said it was the most boring day of the holiday Grin

HungryKoala · 19/07/2020 19:48

No, I was really underwhelmed with it, definitely wouldn't go back.

WingBingo · 19/07/2020 19:50

I’ve been a few times but it is expensive. It is great but not value for money. As someone else said, Lost Gardens of Heligan is better value.

I’ve seen a few bands at Eden, that was very cool. If you get the chance to do that I can recommend it.

wentawaycameback · 19/07/2020 19:51

The domes are good, the food very expensive. Not one of my favourite places but cannot understand why anyone would call the Eden project tacky.

Idontlikewednesdays · 19/07/2020 19:52

It’s an absolute waste of time and money. It was extremely underwhelming. I honestly wouldn’t bother.

Brandaris · 19/07/2020 19:57

It’s great in early spring when you’re so tired of winter going to the top of the jungle feels like a Caribbean holiday.

It’s pretty expensive but I personally haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else in the uk. Best to do the biomes really slowly so you don’t miss the little details like the birds, lizards and tree frogs, and take sandwiches to eat outside.

TheMarzipanDildo · 19/07/2020 19:57

I’ve not been since I was 8 and (12 years ago now) but I can still remember it so it must have been good! Grin
On the value for money front I haven’t a clue.

megletthesecond · 19/07/2020 19:58

It's very educational. I used to walk around with mine showing them what the ingredients for their snacks looked like before they were harvested.

Cornishmumofone · 19/07/2020 19:59

I tend to have a look around after doing parkrun so that o get free entry... but parkrun isn't on at the moment so that doesn't help you.

blackteaplease · 19/07/2020 19:59

I love the Eden project but I wouldn't pay full price. We go every winter on the locals weekends, the outside has loads to look at and explore for kids and the domes and science centre are good. We always take an picnic and get cake/coffee at the cafe.

Can you give them a call and see if they will let you move your ticket?

Mumsie007 · 19/07/2020 20:05

Its completely amazing, so worth the money! You can spend days there and not see eveyrthing, its the most child friendly free running place ever. We go all the time and its been actually amazing post lock down when it was completely empty and the children had the best time ever running round exploring. I would defo spend the money on it.
