Is the Eden project worth the money?

Stupidly booked my fee NHS ticket for September instead of when I'm actually in Cornwall.Confused is it worth paying full price for?

Ok but not worth the money - definitely underwhelming. Agree with others about Helegan (sp?) being better.

Thanks all. I'll give them a ring but I suspect it's unlikely they'll let me move my ticket. I'll do Heligan instead in that case. Or Lanhydrock, in the hope that they open the house by the week after next. (Wish the NT would get on with it!)

We went a few years ago when they had animatronic dinosaurs and related activities. The actual biomes were very interesting, lots to see, and we enjoyed it. We spent the whole day there though some of that was the dinosaurs and they aren't usually there. We did consider going back for free later in the week with the free return you get. We didn't but would have if the weather had been too bad to go to the beach.
I didn't know there was free entry for NHS workers (not that I am intending to be anywhere near).
Lanhydrock is also very good. We went there the same week.

Probably go once, but not a second time after the novelty has worn off. The domes are good.

But,
It is expensive.
It is rather run down. I walked on some decking in the outside bit and my foot went through the board. The rope patterns in one fence were all broken. Large areas were shut off. (With no reduction in entrance fees). Food is expensive and often...original. (The Mediterranean biome had the best place to eat.). The outside parts tend to be quite souless.

I reckon it'll shut within 10 years.

Nope. Cornish local here and it's far too spenny in my opinion. Cornwall is choc full of wonderful gardens. Where kids can learn and run wild. They can't do the latter at Eden. Try Glendurgan or Trebah - valley gardens running down to the sea. huge giant gunneras to shelter under if it rains, amazing mazes and rope walkways etc. nah. Eden is overrated

BBCK · 20/07/2020 19:34

Agree about Trebah - absolutely stunning. I too was underwhelmed by the Eden Project, but I went about 7 years ago and there was a lot of hype. I definitely wouldn’t revisit.

DSs (15 and 13) love it. They go 5 or 6 times per year. They've really missed it this year!

We went in February and enjoyed it as it was a taste of summer and not too busy. It rained heavily when we were in the rainforest biome and it did almost feel like actually being there. I wouldn't bother going in summer though.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/07/2020 20:41

Trebah looks amazing. I'll give that a go.

Hidden Valley is amazing as well (whether you have kids or not!) DH and I spent an entire day there and had so much fun and I don't remember it being very expensive.

GuyFawkesDay · 24/07/2020 21:01

Hidden Valley is a hoot.
