Gritty TV shows

I love a gritty TV drama.

So far have loved:
The Wire
Luther
Breaking Bad
Line of Duty
Happy Valley
The Bridge

I'm sure there are a few more as a lot of television is currently being consumed Grin

Can anyone make any suggestions? Even if it's not the same genre, if you liked the above, what else did you like?

Giri/haji Part english, part Japanese
Better call Saul
Gangs of London - very violent (very!) and quite forgettable but enjoyable enough to watch the whole thing (The wore had ruined telly for me, nothing is as good)
The Sopranos

DH and I loved Save Me (both series) and Gangs of London.

If you can find them the people that made the Wire made 2 other series;
Generation Kill - about invasion of Iraq, not usually my type of thing but really good.
Treme - set in New Orleans straight after hurricane Katrina. It’s a show where nothing much happens but it has brilliant characters & you get really involved in their lives.

Unbelievable
True Detective

The Shield. It is so dark in places, blackly comic in others and just utterly compelling. And the final season of it is so brilliant yet so frankly traumatic in places that I might describe it as the best TV series I have ever watched (although I could never sit through it again).

Really recommended!

Pennyworth
The Witcher
Another Life
