Renting a national trust property

Does anyone live in a property they rent from the national trust? We are looking to move and have seen one that looks absolutely perfect for us. Any tips on what to write on the application form would be very appreciated! And I would be very grateful for any other general advice/information too. TIA

I was interested once in a rental cottage in the grounds of a castle. What put me off was that we would be responsible for all repairs and although it was a very low rent it was too much responsibility ( roof repairs).

Are you looking to rent as part of a estate with other houses or is it stand alone?

We went down the route of wanting to be part of, and contribute to a community. We attended all community functions and I volunteered in the village shop for 12 months. This was years ago when available houses were scarce. Now you don't need to put that much effort in 😁

You will also need to provide references and have good credit.

The Trust are a great land lord.

Thanks @YoBigMomma. It's in a village that is mostly national-trust owned. We do want to be part of a local community, but we aren't currently in the area, so minimal opportunity to get involved before moving.

I have no idea really how competitive the process is? My gut is telling me it probably is, but I'm not basing that off much!
References and credit shouldn't be an issue.
