days out in the summer holidays

If you've got time off over the summer holidays what days out are you doing?

Looking for ideas...we're not close enough to a beach, it would mean going to Wales which I'm not sure is allowed yet anyway.

What budget days out are you doing with your DCs? (one younger secondary, one older secondary)

You can now go to the beach, in Wales.

However, by 'younger secondary / older secondary' age, we didn't really do 'family days out. By that stage they prefer the company of other youngsters of their age, generally. I mean, we'd go away on a family holiday, which involved the beach, but into their teens, any 'day out' tended to be 1:1 time.
They do come round again - as adults, all of mine are up for anything from a trip to the safari park to a picnic somewhere scenic Smile

I’m thinking about this too. Mine are a bit younger - 13 and 10. We are nowhere near a beach and I’m too worried about crowds to risk travelling to one. We are meeting friends at a zoo tomorrow (prebooked tickets) and are meeting other friends at parks with a picnic. We have looked a drive through cinemas but they seem expensive to watch an old film.

I'm going to take mine swimming once the pools open up...it's pretty cheap where I live as kids are free in school holidays (usually)

Bike riding in park

Mini golf

I'm not sure this is strictly an idea for days out....

However Nottingham Music Hub have created a musical, pirate Quest that runs every week across the summer holidays.

They are working with CBBC presenter Andy Day and it looks really interesting - www.nottinghammusichub.org.uk/challenges/music-quest-2020
