Finished paying off my debt. No credit cards, overdrafts or store credit/catalogues remain. I'm so relieved. Means I can build up some savings now and look at having some type of Haven/Pontins holiday for next summer.

Spied · 19/07/2020 13:27

Well doneSmile.
It must be a weight lifted

wizzler · 19/07/2020 13:27

Congratulations

FallenSkies · 19/07/2020 13:27

Congratulations! That must be a wonderful feeling, and is a massive accomplishment!

BraveGoldie · 19/07/2020 13:27

Congratulations OP- that's awesome!

Today I reread some of the amazing book "Half the Sky: How to change the world"

www.halftheskymovement.org

It talks about some of the horrific ways girls are treated around the world and the huge opportunity to make positive change.

It gave links to organizations online, where I've just gone to donate money to three girls' organizations and start sponsoring a teenage girl in Africa.

Now it's lunch time.....

BraveGoldie · 19/07/2020 13:29

Oh I am sorry - I thought this was one of those when everybody says what they are doing today. Was that the idea OP?

If not I am sorry.

Either way.... that is brilliant to have reached that point! Smile

Frownette · 19/07/2020 13:36

Brilliant, OP!

Wallybigboots · 19/07/2020 13:50

BRAVEGOLDIE (sorry I don't know how to tag) that's great. I don't mind at all if people want to add what they have done today... Smile

Well done, OP, you must feel really happy about that!

Today, I weighed myself and I’ve lost 1 stone 10lbs in 4 weeks. Pretty chuffed with that. Long way to go yet, but it’s a good start.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 19/07/2020 15:24

Congratulations OP! Bet you feel on top of the world and rightly so! Grin

babasaclover · 19/07/2020 15:30

Have you managed to do this because of lockdown? I'm saving lots of money by not going anywhere. It's been so helpful to do things around the house that we could never afford before

Giganticshark · 19/07/2020 15:31

What a relief for you. I'm at the beginning of my debt clearance. It's just a relief to have consolidated my debt (paying my mum back a large sum rather than tiddly bits on CC).

Today I rode a bike for the first time in 20 yrs. I'm getting a new bike to go to work as its only one mile away. I felt really good whilst cycling around. I'm really overweight and need to get fit

Giganticshark · 19/07/2020 15:31

I was meant to say well done!!!!!!

CremeEggThief · 19/07/2020 15:34

That's great, Wally. Well done!

Today, I put a roll of artificial grass down in my backyard. Not properly, but at least it's out of the shed, where it's been for a few weeks.

threesenoughthanks · 19/07/2020 15:36

Well done OP Grin
You too @Shizzlestix that's impressive. Have you been following a certain diet or just eating healthily/exercise?

Thecomfortador · 19/07/2020 15:39

That's brilliant OP, must be a great feeling. Enjoy planning that holiday. Still a few years away from that day myself but it's good to hear you've done it.

Wallybigboots · 19/07/2020 16:21

@shizzlestix that is bloody amazing. How did you do that? I really want to lose a about 18lbs before the end of the summer holidays but in reality I am too greedy for that to happen.

Wallybigboots · 19/07/2020 16:28

@babasaclover any money I had left before payday would be transferred to my debt. Even if it was £2.99. Plus with covid, I haven't been out to the shop and was spending less on my online shopping. It's taken ages but I've finally done it. Now to tackle my weight Blush

betteliefsen · 19/07/2020 16:29

Well done! I did the same thing a couple of months ago, it's a fantastic feeling.

MulberryPeony · 19/07/2020 16:35

Well done OP.

EatsShootsAndRuns · 19/07/2020 16:41

Well done. Next payday, as well as saving, do treat yourself to something, no matter how small, as a thank you to yourself for your hard work in paying it all off. It's a wonderful feeling! Cake

Shizzlestix · 19/07/2020 20:40

I’ve stopped drinking and snacking. 3 meals a day, no sweets or booze. I’m a happy bunny!

icebearforpresident · 19/07/2020 21:29

Congratulations! Not quite the same thing but I am being made redundant as a result of COVID-19, fortunately I have a new job lined up. My redundancy payout is paying off the bulk of my debt leaving me with one interest free credit card. Now I’m not paying off hundreds every month on everything else that one will be gone within the year. I get my redundancy payout on Friday and I’m ridiculously excited about it.

I know how good it’s felt paying off one card after the other so can just imagine how good the last ever payment must have been.

Wallybigboots · 20/07/2020 14:30

@icebearforpresident congratulations on getting another job. It's a brilliant feeling having no debt. But the other week I started panicking because i couldn't find a credit card i had put away as i wanted to check the balance. Searched the house and then after about half an hour I realised that I'd already paid it off and cut the card up! Silly me!!!
