Adult picnic food.

Fancy an adult picnic to use my new picnic basket. I’ve not been on a child free picnic in years!! What should I pack that’s indulgent.

I really like making this for picnics. It’s simple but still feels more of a treat than a regular sandwich. And you can get creative with the fillings. I know it says kids can assemble it, but it’s perfectly grown up. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pressed-picnic-sandwich

Another vote for baguette. Some nice crisps and/or crudités and dips. Also a trip to a good deli if the budget stretches.
Some fresh fruit, particularly berries and tropical fruit might be quite refreshing after heavier foods.
Don’t forget non alcoholic drinks even if you are bringing a bottle of something special.

It isn’t a proper picnic without hard boiled eggs and celery salt for dipping.
Chilled soup such as gazpacho or borscht in a flask, or ready mixed Bloody Marys to start.
Smoked salmon, cream cheese & cucumber sandwiches.
Or rustic rolls filled with herby cold roast pork.
Individual chicken Caesar salads.

Individual jars of home made fruit compote or fruit salad. Wine, lashings of grown up lemonade, some fruit syrop to add to chilled water.
