Things to do in Bournemouth with dd age 5

I’m thinking of taking dd age 5 away to Bournemouth for a night or two in august. Can anyone recommend a good hotel close to beach/town etc and also recommend anything else we can do whilst down there at the moment as obviously not everything may be open.

I don't mind if it's Bournemouth main beach or one of the others close by as long as everything is close by in walking distance

The Oceanarium in now open.
There are two land trains. One runs from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe town centre via the Boscombe Gardens or head in the other direction from Bournemouth Pier to Alum Chine Beach. A return ticket on oneland train entitles you to also ride on the other land train at no extra charge.
Alum Chine Beach is hugely popular with young families due to a pirate-themed large adventure playground and water-play area and ice cream kiosks.
Ride up West Cliff Lift. It ischeap and loads of fun.
