To paint or not to paint

After thinking about it for years, this virus has finally pushed us over the edge, we are selling up and going somewhere where the air is cleaner

How much do you think we prep the house for sale beyond the "ready for mother to visit" clean and tidy?

The living room was scheduled for painting in the next year or so, so it's about 5 years since it was last done, is it worth painting it or will it not make much difference ? What would matter to you as a buyer?

And any other tips, neither of us has done this before. Now we do feel grown up!

I’d only care if the walls were dirty/a horrible colour as I would then mentally deduct painting costs.

Painting is not a big job, it really depends on what kind of condition it’s in and also the colour, is it neutral or something that would be a specific taste.
