How do you do a bank charge back?

I want to do a bank charge back, rather than wait for Asda to refund (if they even do) me?

The money is still pending, but as the order is showing as 'delivered' then I have no doubt that they have already taken it, so want it back before they piss around having investigations, as I simply cannot afford it.

Do I just contact the bank and ask them to do a charge back for good not received? Thanks

You need to be able to have prove you have got the good you wanted. Ie an email from Asda acknowledging this or similar. You’ll need order confirmation etc They won’t just take your word for it or everyone could do it.

Should read haven’t got the goods you wanted

Is this a food order or a George order?

If it's food, did you apply online for the ASDA refund? It usually says on your account within a couple of hours if the refund has been approved. It takes three days for the money to show in my bank account.

Why would they not refund you?

DerekTheDodo · 18/07/2020 12:10

If it's pending you can't charge back as it hasn't fully been taken. You need to wait until it's actually gone out of your account. You'll also need to be able to prove that you've contacted the company and given them chance to resolve it.

tisntfriday0000000000l So how the hell am I supposed to prove that it hasn't been delivered?

Contact Customer Services who will investigate, firstly by contacting the delivery company, I think it's Hermes that usually deliver George. ASDA need to sort it out, not you. When this has happened to me in the past I have been refunded.

It was food delivery. It was due yesterday. The little bar thingy never updated to show the delivery was getting closer.

At 10.40 pm I phoned Asda to ask where the delivery was, to be told that the van had broken down, and if the order hadn't arrived by midnight (they allow for four hours after due time), the order would be cancelled and I'd receive confirmation.

I took screenshots up until 1am saying it was 'out for delivery'. I NEVER received a text, call or email.

This morning it still said 'out for delivery' and the little bar thing' was in the same position, so I took another screenshot then contacted them via Twitter.

I then logged into Asda to discover that the order had randomly updated to 'delivered'.

I phoned them. They had no information that the van had broken down, or that I phoned last night, or that I hadn't received it at all last night.

As I have been busy all week arranging my brother's funeral and helping my parents, I haven't been able to shop, so managed just before midnight to get an Iceland delivery for today, but cannot afford to shop next week unless Asda immediately.

They have issued me with a £10 eVoucher, for 'inconvenience' but that doesn't prove anything.

I have no idea where to go with this.

I am tired and upset. The only 'proof' I have is screenshots from this morning showing that the delivery was still not delivered (and was due yesterday). I cannot afford to lose £100.

@Summer41 It is a grocery order

Asda refunded me fairly quickly when my delivery didn't turn up.

WishIWasSomewhereElse · 18/07/2020 12:40

@Yorkiee That's good to hear, thank you. Did it say it had been delivered though (this is the thing that's worrying me, the fact that it says delivered on my account).

Yorkiee · 18/07/2020 12:52

@WishIWasSomewhereElse it did say it was delivered. I was so confused. When I called asda they said money will show pending then go back into account within 5 days. It went back in within two days.

If they do not resolve it call your bank and tell them. They will do a charge back and refund you within that day. They will get their money back from asda.

Yorkiee · 18/07/2020 12:53
  • they fill out a quick dispute form. You give them the info etc.
WishIWasSomewhereElse · 18/07/2020 13:03

@Yorkiee Flowers I could kiss you (sorry) I thought I - and the person on Trust Pilot - were the only people who this had happened too! This was the exact information I was looking for.

It's hard to prove you haven't received something (referring to some pp).

I've been loyal to Asda, despite them often having my favourite things out of stock, not substituting things that could easily be substituted etc.

I cannot fathom why they couldn't update when the 'van broke down.' Especially as they always send a text message before delivering.

They were quick to send me an eVoucher, but I doubt I'll be using it.

@WishIWasSomewhereElse I hope you get it sorted. But if they don't the bank will.

What was even strange was asda van parking right outside my house.. I thought yes my delivery. Then he drove off 😂😂

Yorkiee · 18/07/2020 13:11

Well it wasn't funny at the time 😅😅

backseatcookers · 18/07/2020 13:14

I'm so, so sorry about your brother ThanksThanksThanks

WishIWasSomewhereElse · 18/07/2020 13:43

@Yorkiee Cheeky buggers!

@backseatcookers Thank you. It's making me act irrationally and have less patience.

The Twitter impatience seems to have paid off, and they sent me a DM saying there was a problem with the store's deliveries yesterday (I don't even know what store they come from tbh), and she processed a refund, and I have had an email confirming this, so at least I can now relax, as I know they have accepted it and have said I will get a refund.

Thank god for Iceland (hope I'm not tempting fate there - please god).

I love some Asda products, but often find that when I checkout they're oos, then when I go back to shop they're still in stock, but out of stock and removed when I checkout, every.single.time...makes no sense at all!

Thanks all. Sorry for being so irrational. I'm supposed to be making something special for my brother's funeral, and I just cannot start it, and time is running out, and I think I'm using this as a way of distracting me, and stopping me from starting it...I just don't think I'll do it/him justice.
