Smelly blanket

I have a blanket that has a really weird aroma, it smells a bit sicky but no ones been sick on it.

It had got dirty recently so I washed it and all the stains came out and it smelt normal again. It's hand wash only and quite a loose cotton texture so can be difficult to clean. Since then it's sat folded on the back of the sofa and barely touched.

But I just wafted it into a den for DS - I don't know how he can bear to sit under it - I can smell it across the room.

It's a pretty blanket and I got it as a present less than a year ago so I don't want to throw it out but the smell!! What could it be?!

Could you do a very low temp wash on a warm day. Wash it and get it hung straight out.

Maybe you folded it before it was 100% dry. I'd just try washing it again.

My DS stuffed toy stinks after a while and I put it through the wash with some Vanish powder. Seems to get rid of the smell!! Normal washing powder didn't really help much.

I’d wash it in the machine, and hang it out in the sunshine to dry. That should kill off any whiffs.

I’d machine wash it on low inside a net bag or pillow case so it doesn’t stretch on the spin. Then dry on the line. Hopefully a mix of bio wash powder and sunshine will shift the smell.
