Best Subscription Boxes

I have seen so many, and would love to hear what everyone's favourites are?

I'm looking for more consumable type ones, or crafts, books, something a bit different to products you can get in the shops.

We have DC too, of varying ages, so any that you rate for them would be good too.

Does anyone still subscribe to them? I have found loads online, just wanted to hear about those that had been tried and tested.

I have a glossy box subscription, I love it to be fair, plus if you review the products you earn money to spend at lookfantastic.com

RedDeadQueen · 18/07/2020 11:07

What kind of things do you get in a glossy box? Thanks for the review tip too.

I get the books subscription from 'a box of stories' I love it, I read and enjoy books I wouldn't normally buy.

One that I have been using recently that I think is lovely is Chestnut Books. I initially started (after a friend recommended it) by just buying my godson a one of box for his birthday which he loved. When I was on the website I noticed that they did subscription boxes too so I signed up for my 10, 7 and 3 year olds. I was a bit concerned initially about getting duplicate books that we already had in the house as we all love books however the lady that runs it was great and we can check before hand that we won't be getting the same books that we already have. I believe she was a teacher specialising in English before she set this up and the books that we get are really good. Not ones that I would always look at in the shop but my kids have loved them all. They also absolutely love getting their box through the post each month. Definitely worth a look. Smile

We have had the baker Ross craft ones in the past for my eldest two which they loved when they were younger but have grown out of it now.

One that isn't for the kids that I have is a gin one 🍸 which is great. It is 'I love gin' and means I get to try a bit of different gins without having to buy big bottles. Although I do usually end up liking them and getting the big bottles anyway!!

I recently had the papergang box which was lovely. And the seed pantry one, which is fab and I’ll definitely keep getting that one. I also get pip box which is fabulous and much better than the other cosmetic boxes in my opinion.
I’ve had a bit of a run of ordering free samples this week and have signed up for the t shirt club (£1 first box), onthatass - boxer shorts (£0 first box), Harry’s razors (£postage for first box), smol washing tablets (£1 first box) and blink cat food (£1 first box). Will be sure to update about the exciting incoming post Grin.
We also tried degustabox a few months ago but after waiting months they still couldn’t send us a box (they’ve no stock at all and are still taking new customers!). Seems there are quite a few upset with them atm.

Oo also Wild natural deodorant which I’m excited about because it sends you refills without plastic and you just use the same outer shell each time.
Lots of testing going on in this house 😂.

We have two. Bakedin baking one which started as a short subscription for DD as a gift but we love it too much to give up. She was 12 when she got it and it really helps with learining lots of techniques.

We also have The Spicery, two spice packs per months. We have one which tends to be mostly curries but this is what we eat quite often anyway.

I love it as it is very flexible, you can pause and swap kits.

kirstinm · 18/07/2020 12:20

@lilyboleyn Would you recommend the Wild deodorant? Just had a look and I like the idea of it.

lilyboleyn · 18/07/2020 12:22

I’ve not received it yet - will let you know when it comes.
I’m a bit scared because it says about a two week period where your body gets used to it etc but Tbf I’ve used other natural deodorants before like Schmidt (which is fabulous) and not had a problem.

tectonicplates · 18/07/2020 12:22

Graze!

milienhaus · 18/07/2020 12:26

I currently use and love Reposed (book + tea/coffee bag + snack + beauty product) and ScrawlrBox (art supplies). Also recently had BakedIn but wasn’t really using it so cancelled it.

RedDeadQueen · 19/07/2020 08:08

So many to choose from. I like the sound especially of the book ones. And BakedIn.

Will take a look at all of these Smile

I've tried a few over lockdown. My favourite for kids is mud and bloom. They get some seeds to plant (this month was lettuce and echinacea). And a couple of nature craft activities, this month was a boat/raft out of sticks and butterfly petal pictures. My favourite for older kids was MEL science. Very expensive but great. For myself craft gin and glossybox. Tried birchbox but glossy was better. Also had toucan box which the kids have enjoyed (3 year old). Tried a couple of food ones but simply cook my favourite where they send the spices and u buy your own ingredients. Tried bakedin the cake was lovely but I thought very expensive as u probably get £1 worth of ingredients, a bit of flour and sugar so could just do it yourself.

lilyboleyn · 23/07/2020 13:21

@kirstinm the wild deo came, and it’s really lovely.

RedDeadQueen · 06/08/2020 14:31

Bit of a shameless bump.

Thinking of testing out the ScrawlrBox for teen DS

Not sure how old your dc are but I get baking boxes for my 8yr old dd from Bake with Lily and Dex. They are great!

@Username781 what age would you say Mud and Bloom was suitable for?

Username781 · 06/08/2020 18:03

I get it for my 3 year old but my 10 year old enjoys some of the activities - planting the seeds, making the boat, scavenger hunt and then this month one of the activities is to make Blackberry jam so will enjoy that also.
