I felt like I was hugged by a ghost...

Sentences you never thought you'd say Grin

I know there must be a rational reason, but last night was so odd, and it's on my mind because I'm avoiding going to bed now!

I woke up last night in the dark, we don't keep any lights on, and I saw a figure at the end of my bed. It looked like a woman's figure, but was kind of light shiny grey like pencil when it catches the light. Then it started to move up in the direction of the ceiling so I lay back down and my phone fell off the bed. Then I felt like someone was lying behind me, almost spooning me, and then I felt a pressure under the arm which was against the mattress like someone was lightly squeezing my arm. And I didn't feel freaked out, comforted if anything, I went back to sleep. The freaked out feeling came in the morning! And in the morning my phone was on the floor where I'd knocked it.

In my teens I had a few episodes of sleep paralysis, but no hallucinations. It must be something in that vein, right? Please give me some logic so I can go to bed!

Yeah, sounds like sleep paralysis to me! I used to get it a lot

Nope, sorry OP, you've definitely got a spooky spooner! 🤣

The thing is, whatever it was - whether it was indeed a presence, or a sleep paralysis thing, or even a really vivid dream that you were half in and half out of - it felt comforting, so it couldn't have been a bad thing really.

I'd sleep with a light on tonight just for my own peace of mind, but have a hot chocolate or something first to help you sleep.

I’m no ghost whisperer and nor would I want it in my bloody bedroom, but It seems too benevolent to be sleep paralysis.
With SP we’re not talking Casper the friendly ghost...

I can't avoid sleeping any longer, I have to get up early. I'm going to go up.

I hope it was my brain being overactive! If I have another encounter I'll come back to the thread and ask for name suggestions...

It'll have to be Spencer I think, Spencer the Spooky Spooner!

Goodnight OP.

Maybe it was the one and only spooky spoon. Wink

DopamineHits · 17/07/2020 12:51

No spooky spooning last night, I'm almost disappointed Grin It must have been one of those weird sleep brain things...

Glad you had a peaceful night 👻

I've had a similar experience.
Dp was snoring and I got in my dd's (so he was on top bunk).
I felt an arm move around my waist and could feel a body pushed up against me.
There was no one there and I was wide awake.
