Getting sweat marks out of bedding

FerociouslySweaty · 16/07/2020 15:15

Can anyone give me any tips for getting sweaty marks out of my (used to be lovely) white cotton bedding?

Night sweats are leaving me washing constantly but it appears that the yellowing is not coming out anymore Sad

Hot wash with bio powder and whitening powder maybe

FerociouslySweaty · 16/07/2020 15:20

Thanks @dementedpixie that's what I have been doing but doesn't seem to be making a difference anymore

I use vanish liquid on DH's half of the bedding. That seems to work.

Soak in napisan first maybe

I would put some side crystals in the drum in addition to your usual powder.

My machine has an intensive setting for extra, umm swishing. If yours has this I would select it.

Nspisan and sunshine

Attack the problem at its source: Use soap instead of shower gel in the shower. DH’s gym kit and towels used to pong even when washed but ever since he made the switch it’s as though his sweat doesn’t smell any more!

I chuck them in the bath, smother them with vanish and soak for a bit then wash as normal.

Side crystals should say soda crystals, sorry.

I spray with hydrogen peroxide and washing up liquid (2/3 to 1/3) which is what I use for a stain removing spray then leave for an hour or so and wash.

After using all the above washing aids, can you hang them in full sunlight? It has a wonderful bleaching affect.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2020 14:10

Wash with soap, use driclor or odaban.

I wash mine with twice the normal bio powder, maximum astonish laundry bleach cos it’s cruelty free & the extra rinse button at 40c.

Unless you are going through the menopause it is worth investigating why you are sweating so much.

Soak in 2 scoops white Vanish and add a generous amount of bleach plus cold water. Stand well back. Leave 24 hours. Marvel at the disgusting yellow scum. Wash with more white Vanish on intense setting.

Thanks everyone, plenty to try.
Yes @Ginfordinner definitely menopausal sweating!
