Anyone made their own masks? Mine seem very gappy at the sides.

It looks good flat but when I tie it it gapes.

I used fabric ties, is elastic much better?

My MIL has made all of ours. I tested the first couple and we had to keep tweaking originally due to gaps, alsowe used hair bobbles for the fastening to try it but now use elastic. I think she tried fabric tie ones on herself but didnt have much luck so now uses elastic on them all.

Are you making a pleated mask?

I switched to one that is two pieces and fits around your chin etc. They have a number of sizes including narrow and wide fittings.

I still had some gap (using elastic loops instead of ties), so I've put them on, then pinned darts into it to, sewn these and it fits more snuggly.

Pattern I've used is free here: media.rainpos.com/220/jessemask.pdf

If you don't want to click a link posted by a random person on the internet, search Jesse personal face mask

Yes, pleated ones. Amazon has elastic back in stock so I might try again before giving up!
