Afternoon all. We had a 4 day break, booked on Anglesey, at the end of August. We were so looking forward to it, and hoping against hope that it would be ok, but no.....email today, to say that it's been cancelled, because of a spike in June....I just feel ridiculously sad...just wanted a moan

Oh that is disappointing - we are meant to be going to North Wales in August and I am hoping that it goes ahead.

Were you booked with a private rental OP?

pointythings · 16/07/2020 14:25

That is disappointing, but that COVID spike they had was pretty serious so they did the right thing.

Whatthefunk · 16/07/2020 14:28

It was a private rental, on a small site. I know it's the right thing to do, but it's still upsetting...this year can fuck right off...Angry

I know a number of people due to got to either Self catering or caravan sites in Wales from 25 July, none have been cancelled, so it sounds like your owners have made their own decision?

Can you not find a replacement, even if not on Anglesey?

The news from Wales today is no new deaths with CV and shielding to end mid August, so it is definitely opening up. The spike was a specific food manufacturing facility I think, and to cancel 6 wks ahead seems odd.

I would just look elsewhere. I booked a holiday cottage in Wales this week. There is still plenty out there, especially if you aren't as picky as we are (I wanted a huge garden and no neighbours).

Valambtine · 16/07/2020 15:36

We are still booked in for 20th Aug....not cancelled yet! I figure we can visit outside attractions. Fingers crossed.

I'm assuming it's a personal choice by the owner. Still gutted though. Will look for something else
