I have pain in the back of my mouth. Mostly my gums and starting to make my jawline painful. It hurts to pass saliva. Yes, I should.go to the dentist, but the waiting list for an NHS dentist is two years and I don't have the £££ for a private one unless I don't have an option. Could this just be a flare up that can be contained/ calmed down with just paracetamol/ibuprofen?

You need to go to a dentist really

You might be able to control it with painkillers in the meantime but it will need seeing.

If it hurts to pass saliva could it he something like a saliva stone? It might be worth visiting your GP if you cannot get into a dentist

It could be so many things, you need a dentist who will take an X-ray to establish the cause.
Maybe you need antibiotics for an infection, maybe it is your wisdom teeth, no one here can help I’m afraid, you need a proper diagnosis. Paracetamol will only help with the symptoms and not the cause.
If you delay treatment you may end up with bigger problems in the future. (My wisdom teeth were all growing horizontally into their neighbouring teeth so had to be taken out before any damage was done).
If you are in pain, wouldn’t it be classed as an emergency to get prompt appointments with an NHS dentist? I would certainly try.
