My daughter wants a proper sewing machine for her 10th birthday. Any recommendations ? I don't want to buy her a toy one obviously but also not something that is computer controlled and could make costumes for a film. Prob a fad but if not if she became a brand in 20 yrs?

I bought my dd the hobbycraft midi one for her 9th birthday in December and it has already broken. I have a brother machine and it is brilliant

I don't really see the point in the midi ones when full size ones can be had for £70ish. They don't get the best reviews and sooner or later I imagine the child will want to progress to a bigger one. Probably easier to just buy a bigger one to start with.

Have you taken it back @YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake ?

Here is the link to one I saw at lidl. I have no idea about machines, or features though?

Ring Jaycotts in Chester. They will sell you exactly what you need. I would buy Janome or Brother. Tell them your budget and your daughter’s age. I have bought from them for years and trust them completely. They deliver fast and I have no affiliation with them.

The ikea one is fine and does the basics. I’d get one of them for her.
