I’d really like to get away this weekend....

My life has fallen apart the last few months, even more so in the last few days. With everything going on in the world I realise travel is difficult etc, however I am wondering if anybody has ANY suggestions at all, for somewhere I could go this weekend with my 3 children (11, 9, 1), we need some peace, we need to get away from this existence we are currently suffering....I’m not fussed about it being anything special, I’ve looked at park dean resorts, there’s one option I could possibly afford, however one of the appeals when we go to caravans is often the pool (well, for them! Not me!) I’m concerned the changes to our usual type of break will not make it the most relaxing of times, I’d happily dissspear with them to remote cottage in the middle of nowhere if I could. I wish I could explain just how desperate we are to be anywhere but here right now, does anybody have ANY suggestions at all? I am not rolling in it, so would like to keep costs as minimal as possible, but other than the usual holiday parks, I don’t know where to even begin with ideas really...can anybody help?

We sometimes use yha family rooms, they are cheap and spacious and often in quiet places. I think I had an email they are opening some back up, not sure exactly when.

Have a nice time if you manage to get away!

Where do you live?

We went to a caravan park last weekend. Booked 2 weeks before but it was heavily discounted by a few days before. DS didn't miss the pool as he had the sea.

I hope you find somewhere OP. I have felt like I am locked in a cage of anxiety and like you just want to get away. Though I feel what I actually want to do is get on holiday away from myself!

I feel the same.
Have you looked at airb&b? I think most are back taking bookings.
Also Butlins and similar were supposed to be reopening minus the entertainment I think

Whereabouts are you, what's your budget roughly and how far can you travel? Let's see what we can find you?

FrugiFan · 16/07/2020 07:50

If it's not too far, come to the New Forest. There is lots to do for free/cheap e.g. beaches, strawberry picking, lovely walks, the reptile centre is free, paddling in rivers, crab fishing. Lots to do in Lymington or around Lyndhurst area.

I’ve just booked for midweek next week and it was hard to find anything affordable. Haven are doing heavy discounts due to facilities not being open.

HugeAckmansWife · 16/07/2020 07:55

If its just the weekend you don't want more than a couple of hours away so where are you based?

Mascotte · 16/07/2020 07:56

A Premier Inn near something you could take the DCs to?

Mascotte · 16/07/2020 07:59

Or a cheap pop up tent, stove, sleeping bags and go camping? Cook sausages outside, drink tea (or wine) DCs do outdoors stuff.
