Experiences of Shein?

I see adverts for clothes from Shein all the time all over social media and the clothes do look good and are mega cheap.

But I’ve never ordered from there.

Does anyone have any good or bad things to say about them?

In this current climate cheap clothes are what I need!

The reviews aren’t great tbh

From personal experience, cheap and nasty.

Quackersandcheese3 · 15/07/2020 20:18

My mums got stuff from there. It’s mixed really, some really good value quality stuff and some crappy stuff too.

My daughter received an order yesterday that she forgot she had ordered as it was a while ago. The things look ok but are definitely on the small side of the sizes!

madasamarchhare · 15/07/2020 20:19

There were some bad reviews with people saying they hadn’t received goods or returned items but not been refunded. I ordered some clothes for my daughter, apprehensively. They arrived and were all packaged lovely. She is a fussy teenager though and we didn’t end up keeping any but she is very particular about what she likes. Some of the materials she wasn’t keen on and a play suit she ordered was a diffeeent style to how she thought it would be. However we sent the items back and received an email to confirm with a refund shortly after. So definitely worth a try.

Haworthia · 15/07/2020 20:21

I’ve had some great and not so great dresses from them. It’s important to read the reviews when it comes to sizing and quality. Some people post photos of themselves wearing the items which really helps.

implantsandaDyson · 15/07/2020 20:23

My daughter has used Shein a few times over the past few months. It's been alright, some great hoodies and jeans, some of the material is very thin and some of the skirts have been a bit shiny and slippy but she's been pleased. Although she's a very skinny teen and nothing has been big on her.

SleepingWithTheFishes · 15/07/2020 20:23

Mine were all awful and cost £17 to
Send back!

userabcname · 15/07/2020 20:25

I've ordered recently. I was very pleased! Definitely read the reviews of each garment as people will say if it doesn't match the photo or if the sizing is off or if the material is transparent. Weirdly everything I ordered I sized down for based on the reviews and it all fit so I would say the sizes run large. Worth the money and everything has washed well. I'll definitely order from there again. Took about 2 weeks to arrive both times.

Pinkvici22 · 15/07/2020 20:25

Ordered a load a few weeks back - mostly for my daughter (7) but a few bits for me too. They’re okay, not brilliant quality but sizing was fine.

SaigonSaigon · 15/07/2020 20:27

I've just received an order - couple of mid length summer dresses and 2 tee's for DS. I've taken a chance but I'm fairly happy with it all. Can't be arsed to send back. One of the tee's is polyester which is not ideal so may not be worn much. Dresses are fine if not flimsy but I will wear them a bit. Not sure I'll order from there again. I did really like the look of the dresses online and I was sick of summer dresses I liked costing £80+ so took a chance. It was £35 for the lot

chunkyrun · 15/07/2020 20:29

Cheap and nasty but most likely made by a child so can't expect quality at those prices

Love51 · 15/07/2020 20:31

I bought a dress from there a couple of years back, and I normally avoid fast fashion. The fabric feels cheap but the swishy dress is very swishy. They've been in trouble lately for selling a swastika necklace although it has now been withdrawn (also a Muslim prayer mat - equal opportunities offensive).
They seem to be a no it very ethical company. Subsidiary of Ali babas / Ali express. Cheap clothes, with all the ethical costs that go along with that.

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/07/2020 20:31

Its hit and miss, but Ive had a lot of hits.
I wouldn't rely on it for an occasion, but for every day bits I like it.
The misses, I just wear round the house.

ItchyScratch · 15/07/2020 20:42

Ooh thank you for your replies! A mixed bag!

@SleepingWithTheFishes Why £17?!!!! Ouch!

Disappointing quality, you get what you pay for.

leftovercoffeecake · 15/07/2020 20:43

I’ve ordered from there a few times and I’ve only ever kept one top. The quality is rubbish. Also it’s a bit sneaky because it only let me leave a review for the item I hadn’t refunded.

I’ve decided to never order from there again because it’s disappointment every time.

The final straw was my last order. Ordered and sent back 5 things. It was all in the bag and well taped up, but they only refunded me for 4 items. I had to prove my post office receipt to get the rest of my money back.

Sexnotgender · 15/07/2020 20:44

Currently MrsGloss seems to be sponsored by Shein. They clearly need the publicity, doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Brieminewine · 15/07/2020 20:45

Cheap chinese tat that wouldn’t look out of place on kat slaters stall!

Curlyshabtree · 15/07/2020 21:13

DD got a really nice dress from Shein. I was sceptical but it was cheap, arrived in good time and looks lovely on. Overall I think it’s pretty hit and miss.

eosmum · 15/07/2020 21:51

I got a jumper xl that wouldn’t fit a 10 year old. Was definitely modeled on an adult or I would have thought it was a child’s.

DotDotDotty · 15/07/2020 22:06

I've only ordered once and it was absolute rubbish. Sizing was tiny and the quality was poor.

ihearttc · 15/07/2020 22:10

I’ve ordered a few times recently and have been very impressed with all of it. As long as you take your time wading through things you like and checking the measurements you can’t go far wrong (Plus I’m 43 so no spring chicken). Not sure why it cost people £17 to return, it’s free returns but they take £2.50 off the refund amount which is quite fair I think.

YonBonnieBanks · 15/07/2020 22:16

I got a few body con dresses from there and was happy with the material, the fit and the size.

Ordered a jacket once that was hideous, and also a pair of shoes that didn't fit. Sent both back with no issues.

So a bit hit and miss but overall positive.

1moreRep · 15/07/2020 22:22

by far the best online shop for clothes compared to boohoo/ nasty gal/ missguided etc

i got a load of clothes and loved them, even the shoes. i found the sizing true or a bit large to be fair.

took around 2 weeks to arrive, all in lovely bags - i was really impressed.
