Are you loud or quiet?

I'm a relatively quiet person at home. I can walk up the stairs without stomping, I can make a drink without banging and clanging everything in sight. I can also watch TV at a volume under 1000 decibels. My partner, however, cannot. It's getting to me more and more. Do others have this issue?

I'm extremely loud but the quietest out of my family. DH really notices the increase in my decibels when I've returned from visiting them. DH is as quiet as a church mouse. They do say opposites attract.

Ex said I was loud moving about etc. He was kinda controlling and irritable though. Current partner says he hasn't noticed that about me

Boredbumhead · 15/07/2020 21:07

I'm quiet.

Dp is unnecessarily loud. He bangs pots and pans and stomps about and slams doors. Unfortunately my 2 ds have also become very loud and obnoxious. I actually felt like running away today. I am an introvert and I hate loud noises.

Bubblingresentment · 15/07/2020 21:11

To those who struggle like me it's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling this way. If you are the loud person, does it bother you being with someone quiet or are you with someone equally loud?

Ironically dp complains about other mums that shout and shriek at their kids. He doesn't realise he actually bellows, and sometime the sound waves hit me in the chest. It's fucking horrible tbh.

I’m quiet. My H is always going WHAT? WHAT? At me. I have to repeat myself several times as do the children. Tbf that’s because he switches off. He is loud in everything. Talking is one volume - loud. He crashes around. Blows air out when he comes in the house, says hello if we’ve just been in another room and passing the room he’s in. I think he does it for attention but it backfires because the more he does it the less I give him!

DramaAlpaca · 15/07/2020 21:19

I'm quiet, as are DS1 and DS2. DH and DS1 are so loud. Especially DS1. He's left home now, but we certainly know when he's arrived for a visit.

purrswhileheeats · 15/07/2020 21:37

@HerRoyalNotness is that a Scouse thing? My ex used to automatically say 'What?' even when I knew he'd heard me.

Me and DH are both very loud

SoleBizzz · 16/07/2020 10:01

Can be both. Don't trust quiet types.

AudTheDeepMinded · 16/07/2020 10:05

My DH CANNOT open or close a door quietly, he has to burst through it and firmly (loudly) push it closed without turning the handle. It drives me batshit, especially when the children were small and sleeping. I'm hard of hearing and so watch TV with subtitles, he often complains the radio is too loud! None of the children can go up or down stairs without stomping. It's a very noisy house generally!

HaudMaDug · 16/07/2020 11:00

Very quiet. My neighbour (who I share a chimney wall with) never knows if I'm home or not as she says she cannot hear me. I can hear her OK, wailing away to her music with her headphones on.
I've always been a tiptoer and I have a route I walk upstairs to avoid the creaky floorboards as the noise annoys me.
Even wee HaudMaPup makes more noise than me. No barking but very vocal with his toys and even when he's sleeping he's snoring like a jet engine.

WhatHaveIFound · 16/07/2020 11:04

Yes, both DH and DD stomp around the house being loud. DS and I are the quiet ones. It annoys me no end that when DH has an early start he can't just leave the house quietly for work. He always wakes me up too!
