I know I know this is probably about the billionth thread asking for stroller/pushchair/buggy recommendations, sorry!
Son is 2.6 years old, our current egg pram is just too big and bulky for on the bus, big walks etc.
I was looking at replacing with a Chico echo but am confused at to the weight is goes up to as some sites are saying 15 and others 22kg.
Anyway, I have seen a silver cross pop (wheels look more substantial on the pop compared to the zest) which goes up to 25kg, I am wanting to know if it’s any good or any other recommendations please?
Sister has a joie but the back rest is awful and keeps slipping down.
Thanks all!

I have a yo-yo and it's the best thing ever. I had it since birth of DS where he used the lie-down version from 0-6months and now using the stroller version. It's light, compact, can fit anywhere in small shops, restaurants, tight spaces and can fit in cabin. Only downside is that it's a bit expensive, not good on gravel but I live in the city anyway so no problem but I used to live in a small flat so it didn't take much space and was very easy to fold and carry.

Newbiehere123 · 15/07/2020 11:26

Oh sorry, I just realised the yo-yo goes up to 18kg max. Silly me, I will be in your position soon 🤦🏻‍♀️

Watching with interest - I was just about to start a thread on king for a stroller that goes up to 25kg.

The cosatto strollers seem to go up to that weight but I’m not overly keen on the prints. The silver cross is nice but seems ££ when considering how long it will actually be used.

BillyAndTheSillies · 15/07/2020 11:34

I swore by our Maclaren Techno XT. It has a max weight of 25kg and until recently I used it with my four year old DS with no issues at all. Have just cleaned it up ready for DS2 because now I have to lug scooters and school bags around, the tiny basket on our xplory just doesn't cut it.

PinkDaydreams · 15/07/2020 13:30

I too am not keen on the cossatto prints, they’re a bit too bright!

@Mycatsmellsbad I know what you mean regarding price, I’ve been looking on gumtree and ebay for second hand but the ones available near to me all look so tatty that I will prob buy brand new.

I’ll have a look at the maclaren, thank you @BillyAndTheSillies

We went to a Quinny, I think it was a Buzz, when DC was 3 and needed a good too-from nursery stroller. No shopping basket to speak of but a good easy push.

alwaystiredalwaysgrumpy · 15/07/2020 13:44

Baby joggers go up to higher weight allowance.

beakyboo10 · 15/07/2020 14:02

We have the silver cross pop, I did buy it from Mothercare last year when they had a sale on so not sure where you could go and view them, maybe John Lewis might stock them, we chose this because of the 25kg limit and it has a massive sun shade which has been brilliant.

Used it for over a year now and never even bother with our iCandy and it has been used on the trails, parks and walking around town, it hasn't got a big basket but not many strollers do. My toddler must find it comfy as he takes his nap in it after a walk.

PinkDaydreams · 15/07/2020 14:09

@beakyboo10 can I ask you about the pop please. When your son is sitting up in it does the pram properly sit up or is he slouched back? I’m seeing a few different prams that the backs on them look far back when put in the ‘upright’ position so the child slouches back instead of sits up properly.
I hope my question makes sense?! Confused

Baby jogger city mini, not quite a stroller but single hand fold and folds flat.

beakyboo10 · 15/07/2020 14:19

@PinkDaydreams the pop has 3 back positions and my son is 21 months so when he is awake we put him in the most upright position and he never slouches (he did in our icandy).

The other week he did slip down a bit when he had a puddle suit on but I think it was two shiny fabrics rubbing together. When we looked instore it did seem more upright than some of the other ones. Hope that helps .

PinkDaydreams · 15/07/2020 14:22

@beakyboo10 thank you for that, you’ve helped me make a decision in going for the silver cross pop! Can’t wait to receive it :)

@PinkDaydreams I hope you and your son enjoy it, ours has been great during lockdown plus it fits in the cupboard under the stairs.

PinkDaydreams · 15/07/2020 14:33

That’s music to my ears, being able to fling it under the stairs! Grin current pram is constantly up in the porch blocking the front door!

I got a silver cross pop when DS was about 14 months and was still using it this Jan/Feb with a (then) 3.4 year old. I'd still use it now if necessary. Sturdy and reliable. Would absolutely recommend it.

If you can, get a liner, I got a silver cross one (fleece one side, waterproof on the other) and it makes spillages and accidents much quicker to deal with.

Sandytoes86 · 15/07/2020 14:56

I’ve had a chicco London for 4 years and it’s still as good as when I brought it. The wheels are a lot better than many other lightweight strollers as they are larger to easier to go up curbs etc. It’s cheap too

Sandytoes86 · 15/07/2020 14:57

To add, I’ve had a Cosatto , silvercross pop and a Maclaren and the Chicco is the best IMO

Mycatsmellsbad · 15/07/2020 15:09

Chicco London only goes up to 15kg though by the looks of it.

PinkDaydreams · 15/07/2020 17:03

@CrimeCantCrackItself thanks for the tip, I’ll order a liner as well :)

That’s the thing I’ve noticed with a lot of the strollers, they only go up to 15kg.

We have a pop and love it! DS will be 3 in October and still fits in it fine. Really really sturdy compared to other similar strollers. They also always seem to be on special offer somewhere and there's plenty on this game like FB market place

SallyCinnamon3009 · 15/07/2020 19:18

*things like

PinkDaydreams · 22/07/2020 22:39

Just an update! Loving the silver cross pop, little one always likes it, he likes being able to climb in by himself. The basket is smaller than my previous pram but I was expecting that with an umbrella fold. Lightweight, good hood, overall happy with it. My only niggle is that it doesn’t have a cup holder so I’ve ordered one from eBay.
Thanks again! Grin
