DS (18) went out last night for friends celebration. He was v v v drunk when picked up. Never seen him like that.
Didn't make much sense etc.
Checked on him in night. Slept for about 13 hours.
But tonight speech still slurred and memory from during day today very bad.
It's really scared him and he's now admitted that as well as drinking a lot he took a 10mg Valium tablet that someone brought with him.
I can't believe DS has been so stupid but I don't know what to do now.
Of course we can't really be sure what was in it. Should he still he so affected now?
Sorry I just don't know anything about these things.

If in doubt, Call 111 for advice.

Thanks for replying. He's worried about something being on his record if I call 111.

He’ll be more worried if he’s seriously ill and not treated. If you don’t want taking drugs on your medical record then don’t take drugs!

Call 111.

Gingernaut · 14/07/2020 22:14

If it was valium, he effectively 'roofied' himself.

If it was a fake pill, from a pirate drug company, he could well have taken a small cocktail of benzodiazepine type drugs.

If he's not functioning as well as usual, then 111 is your first port of call.

If he's worried about his medical record, then he should have considered that before taking diazepam.

His health must come first.

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 22:16

Pottering you're right.
He's very upset and sorry. I can't believe he's been so stupid.
From talking to him it seems like it's really widely used Sad

Wassock. I'd love to know what effect he thought taking valium would have (with or without alcohol)?

Impatientwino · 14/07/2020 22:23

I'm pretty sure diazepam when combined with alcohol can affect breathing so I'd definitely be making a call.

I'm sorry, this must be so upsetting for you Thanks

I'm dreading parenting this age group

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 22:23

Gingernaught I didn't even know what roofie is - have googled.
He's only been out like that a couple of times - he's spent most of his time in last few years either at school or with Explorer scouts !

(Thank you everyone for replying to me)

It must be coming up to about 24 hours since he took it now.

'Something on his record' tell him to wise the fuck up..
That is a combination that can kill you.

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 22:34

I have Destroyed.
I just can't believe he's done it. He's worked so hard at school and got a really competitive apprenticeship lined up. He's worried that it will be affected. I think it's sunk in now what he's done

How would his apprenticeship be affected by a visit to the hospital. .that is what I meant by 'wise the fuck up'

notreallybotheredaboutausernam · 14/07/2020 22:36

What's this "record" you think it'll be put on?? Valium can take a while to get out of your system.

Destroyedpeople · 14/07/2020 22:37

...or a call to 111?

sunshinewhereareyou · 14/07/2020 22:37

Everyone experiments with something at some point - there's far worse drugs to take.

I personally would expect him to just sleep it off. I've known many to take such a concoction in their uni days!

Destroyedpeople · 14/07/2020 22:40

Really and I know of at least two pepole that have accidently died from valium or df's combined with alcohol.

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 22:53

(He has to have a medical before the apprenticeship starts including medical record check.)

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 22:56

Destroyed I have no experience of anything like this - sorry to be asking such basic questions.
Would that happen 24 hours after taking it?

Have called 111. Because he is conscious / has eaten etc not classed as urgent but they are going to get someone to call me back.

OP posts:
Destroyedpeople · 14/07/2020 23:00

Sorry I have no idea. The two people that I know that it happened to just didn't wake up after. So your boy is ok as that has passed. I still think phoning 111 was the right thing to do. Sorry for scaring you. I hope you give him a metaphorical slap x

nobucketlist · 14/07/2020 23:33

Oh I have !
Thanks again for replying
