Do you have a guilty pleasures playlist? What's the most embarrassing song?

I'm on my own in the house and I've been singing along to the playlist that I can only play out loud when alone. Only the dog knows the depths of cheese of this playlist (and now potentially millions of MN users, but you're imaginary whereas the dog is real and quite judgemental). Grin

I guess objectively the most embarrassing is Come on Eileen, but personally I am appalled that I have Nickleback, How You Remind Me, on the list. Nickleback is worse even than Mambo No 5 and Rock Me Amadeus (American version). Grin

Of course, Nickelback’s “Rock star” and anything by Carlos Santana too.

KingOfTheNumpties · 18/07/2020 21:30

Dennis Waterman's I Could Be So Good For You is the business

I think I’ve realised that most of my choons have a common theme in a strong guitar track. I really wanted to be a guitarist when I was a tween / teen, but my DF said it wasn’t for girls and only Suzi Quattro had managed to pull it off (I think I was more Joni Mitchell even though I probably wanted to be a bit more heavy metal but it was never gonna happen with my grandad’s second-hand classical guitar). So I have rebelled a bit by starting to learn classical guitar in a more serious way...

Groove armada superstylin is prob my all time favorite

Splodgetastic · 18/07/2020 21:40

I also did quite like Cascada back in the day, plus I do like DJ Ötzi “Ein Stern, der deinen Namen trägt”, but that actually makes me cry for a real reason.

King of the Road, and whilst in the US I did actually find a third boxcar on a train with Bangor, Maine stencilled on it. Took a photo and posted it on FB, no one 'got' it Sad

Mine's Let It Go from Frozen. Fond memories of a school Disney trip, with 30 year 8s. We sang it at the top of our voices, with the 4 teachers doing actions on the coach, just as we pulled up in the school car park.

Basically, whipped them up to a frenzy, then gave them back to their parents!Grin

Vibeology Paula Abdul....actually anything Paula Abdul, I love her
Carry on My Wayward Son - Kansas. Found out when listening to this my springer spaniel has serious issues with air guitar.
Entire Debbie Gibson/Tiffany/Belinda Carlisle/Gloria Estefan back catalogue.
Monkees - especially Listen To The Band. I just need some flowers to wave around.
Skye Boat Song from Outlander, always to be sang very loudly with a glass of wine and bad Scottish accent
Hit - The Sugarcubes, the rap in that is cringe worthy but I love it
Entire Xanadu soundtrack but especially Suddenly with Cliff Richard. I may pretend to skate in kitchen to that. Or not. Ahem.
All sitting on playlist with Manic Street Preachers, Killers, and a wealth of 90s and 80s indie and pop, 60's,70's, opera, classical, Motown, and much more. My neighbour claims its like listening to a radio station with identity issues. I could add more but its getting both boring (for you lot I mean I could go on all day) and embarrassing listing my odd taste in music!

SidesteppinTheRona · 19/07/2020 15:04

The Xanadu soundtrack, yes! That reminds me, how did I forget ELO? I love a bit of ELO, so many great songs!

woodhill · 19/07/2020 16:14

Ahh Dennis Waterman

Also love theme from brushstrokes

I have a lot of embarassing songs on my Spotify... I sing very loudly in the bakery (hobbit hole) at work..
A few weeks ago I Will Survive came on.. I looked out into the shop yard and no one was there so I gave it full welly.. Sang my little heart out.. Just as it finished I heard a click from the chiller next door.. My boss had been next door. I opened the bakery door and said 'You hez

Elderflower14 · 19/07/2020 16:29

Hit post too soon.
I opened the door and said "You heard all of that didn't you? 🙄 🙄!" He gave a huge grin and nodded!!! I will be a long time living that down!

Ladies of MN, I give you:-

SinisterBumFacedCat · 19/07/2020 17:45

I know him so well - Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickinson

Crucified - Army of Lovers

WeAllHaveWings · 19/07/2020 18:25

I am looking at too many of these songs, especially 80's or early 90's ones and thinking there is absolutely nothing wrong with that one...

Nowt wrong with a big of Elaine Paige - 🎶 One night only, one night only. Come on, big baby, come on 🎵

Echobelly · 19/07/2020 18:38

Sweet Dreams My LA-ex by Rachel Stevens - I think it was originally written for Kylie or someone, and it is a bit of a banger.

MaggieTheFrog · 19/07/2020 19:12
