Do you have a guilty pleasures playlist? What's the most embarrassing song?

I'm on my own in the house and I've been singing along to the playlist that I can only play out loud when alone. Only the dog knows the depths of cheese of this playlist (and now potentially millions of MN users, but you're imaginary whereas the dog is real and quite judgemental). Grin

I guess objectively the most embarrassing is Come on Eileen, but personally I am appalled that I have Nickleback, How You Remind Me, on the list. Nickleback is worse even than Mambo No 5 and Rock Me Amadeus (American version). Grin

Milli vanilli, girl I'm gonna miss you Blush

@MonsteraDeliciosa

Can’t believe no one’s mentioned “Escape (the Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes. That is one catchy slice of cheese!
I love the Pina Colada song! DH and I sing along to that in the car regularly Grin

@BluntAndToThePoint80 had to YouTube the group and wonder which one of the many members it was ... the suits and the dance moves 😆
Might have had to listen to "Purely by coincidence" too..

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 17/07/2020 22:54

Dominique by The Singing Nun

schnubbins · 17/07/2020 22:57

Never going to give you up Rick Astley .

Killerqueen2244 · 17/07/2020 23:10

Come on admit it, it was you lot who kept Jive Bunny at number 1 wasn’t it!?!?! Wink

WellTidy · 17/07/2020 23:16

Making Your Mind Up by Bucks Fizz. It’s my favourite song of all time.

Isadora2007 · 17/07/2020 23:17

Lost in your eyes by Debbie Gibson
Or
Love is a wonderful thing by Michael Bolton.

I have no idea if you're being serious... I sincerely hope so!
SingleHandSue · 18/07/2020 01:26

On my playlist I have:

Joe Jackson - Stepping Out
Baltimora - Tarzan Boy
Opus - Live is Life

I also love The Safety Dance and laughed a lot when I saw something on Twitter about the video telling the story of the Lannisters 😄

Phoebesgift · 18/07/2020 01:28

Bacarac. Yes sir I can boogie.

It’s no Land of Make Believe though is it?
eausolovely · 18/07/2020 01:29

Anything by the Jonas Brothers (before they were socially acceptable)

TheGoldenChild · 18/07/2020 01:34

Ndubz first album Uncle B

I'm old enough to know better but I remember every word Grin

elp30 · 18/07/2020 03:13

I'm so ashamed but mine is, "Morning Train" by Sheena Easton.

elp30 · 18/07/2020 03:16

Husband just corrected me. He said its "9-5" by Sheena Easton, not "Morning Train". I'm scared that he knew this.

WildRosie · 18/07/2020 08:17

9 to 5 is the correct title. The song was released as Morning Train in the USA to avoid confusion with the Dolly Parton 9 to 5 song.

elp30 · 18/07/2020 08:52

@WildRosie
Thanks for that. I'm in the US so that makes sense. But it doesn't excuse the husband for knowing that. Lol

I'll also sadly admit to D.I.S.C.O. by Ottowan

SidesteppinTheRona · 18/07/2020 09:15

Great songs here. I share a Spotify account with my daughter, so making a new cringefest playlist will seriously lower her coolness quotient with her followers!

I'd add
Cake by the Ocean
Shut up and Dance With Me
Mickey - Toni Basil
It's all About You - McFly
Grace Kelly and Love Today - Mika
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

and so much Abba that I won't bother listing each one!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/07/2020 17:40

Ohhh, Silver Lady by David Soul, that brings back memories. I'm adding that to the list. Grin Also C'est la Vie by B*witched. Blush

I confess to having the Banana Splits Tra-La-La song on my playlist. Just because it reminds me of childhood and cheers me up.

Spinningdot · 18/07/2020 21:04

Do You Really Like It? by DJ Pied Piper and the Masters of Ceremonies (reminds me so much of an early noughties summer)
DJ Sammy's version of Boys Of Summer
Shoulda Known Better by Jim Diamond which I absolutely love & in the same vein,
Missing You by John Waite Grin

Splodgetastic · 18/07/2020 21:24

So many on the now iTunes of shame. Recently I have resurrected stuff from the nineties or earlier: “Friends will be friends”, “ I want it all” and “The show must go on” by Queen (these three make me feel particularly amazing doing housework or cooking), “Saturday night’s alright for fighting” by Elton John, pretty much anything by Michael Bolton but especially “How can we be lovers if we can’t be friends” and “Riding with the King” by Eric Clapton and B.B. King (also “Cocaine” and “Crossroads” by Eric Clapton, plus “Purple Haze”, “Hey Joe” and “All along the Watchtower’ as done by Jimi Hendrix). Cry me a river is an old party piece of mine from when I had aspirations to own a piano bar.
