Do you have a guilty pleasures playlist? What's the most embarrassing song?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/07/2020 20:03

I'm on my own in the house and I've been singing along to the playlist that I can only play out loud when alone. Only the dog knows the depths of cheese of this playlist (and now potentially millions of MN users, but you're imaginary whereas the dog is real and quite judgemental). Grin

I guess objectively the most embarrassing is Come on Eileen, but personally I am appalled that I have Nickleback, How You Remind Me, on the list. Nickleback is worse even than Mambo No 5 and Rock Me Amadeus (American version). Grin

That Reynolds Girl's song reminds me of The Only Way is Up by Yazz which will now be added to the Guilty Pleasures playlist.

I have just watched the Yazz video on YouTube, I had totally forgotten the cycling shorts with bomber jacket and braces over the top combo.

I don't have guilty pleasures I love most of these songs mentioned proudly!

My cheesiest one is probably Uncle Kracker - Follow Me!

NathanNathan · 17/07/2020 07:57

Blazin Squad, Flip Reverse. Sad it's a terribly misogynistic song...

NathanNathan · 17/07/2020 07:59

Also several Billie Piper and Samantha Mumba. Also Enya. The Craig David version of Lets Dance?

I'm stopping now as I'm definitely outing myself...

PajamasnoDramas · 17/07/2020 07:59

Silver Lady -David Soul
Hold me close - David Essex
Love is in the Air - John Paul Young
I’ve got the music in me - Kiki Dee

The 70s is my guilty pleasures golden era - memories of tunes heard on R2 while a child - ah, the memories.

Although I do love ol’ Tel I’m not going as far as the Floral Dance.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 17/07/2020 13:04

Can’t believe no one’s mentioned “Escape (the Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes.
That is one catchy slice of cheese!

BluntAndToThePoint80 · 17/07/2020 17:12

@Peasweet - when I was newly qualified a member of sweet sensation kept asking me out and his chat up was that he used to be in that group (they pre-dated my birth) and he was very put off when I wasn’t impressed. Had never heard the song before but I can’t hear it now without laughing.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 17/07/2020 18:32

Oh and finally...

My cheese/cringe/ guilty pleasure playlist wouldn't be complete without "Bamboleo" and "Volare" by the Gipsy Kings!
