Still nc'd from another thread but longtime MNetter here!
Posting in chat as health doesn't get much traffic and I didn't get any response so hopefully this post will be seen
I've finally got a date for my surgery to have a slipped disc in my neck replaced with an artificial disc.
I was hoping anyone who's had this done or knows someone who has could give me some idea what to expect.
Some of the most difficult symptoms it's been causing me have been cervicogenic headaches and vision problems (as well as the pain, arm tingling and weakness). I wanted to ask if anyone has found that these symptoms have gone away after having the disc replaced.
I was also hoping for a bit of clarification on what to expect in terms of if the pain straight after the surgery is extremely bad and if it's very difficult to move/swallow/speak. I'd rather know what to expect than have a shock and feel distressed. I've arranged for someone to stay with me for a couple of days afterwards but normally live alone and I wanted to get an idea of how long I'd be likely to need help for and how difficult it is to manage in the days after the surgery.
Thank you for reading!
