No further action on speeding tickets?

I received two speeding tickets last month (I know Blush), my first in over 20 years driving.

I filled in and returned the forms and called today because I hadn’t heard anything to be told that they had reviewed the convictions and were taking no further action. No fines, points nothing.

This seems bizarre to me, I had written back accepting the tickets?

I have absolutely learned my lesson and I feel very grateful but it seems strange to me. Anyone know why it might be? Is it common for the police to take no further action?

They may have discovered faults in the camera technology.

They are probably short staffed themselves with officers being off shielding or looking after their children the same as the rest of us!

I’d suggest officers are drafted from there to cover other areas that are short staffed and speeding considered not as important as other things.

It’s your lucky day! Enjoy and remember the speed limit next time you are out driving Smile

I thought that, but I didn’t request photos.

It was me, I did it! I signed the form to say it was me.

@Elieza I definitely will!

In my weak defence they had recently changed the limit on the road, I’m usually so bloody careful. Lesson truly learned and I do feel lucky.

If they’ve recently changed the limit then they may not have had appropriate signage and notice so may have acknowledged this.

Also during lockdown they could not deal with the backlog. DH and I both got done within a week of each other, he, like you got no further action and I have to take a zoom speed awareness course that cost £90!
