Shit just found my leftover chicken curry in the microwave from last night, I forgot to put it in the fridge. Should I risk it? I would cook it for a longer time. I was really looking forward to it. What would you do?

not if there is rice there

GreyGardens88 · 12/07/2020 21:19

I would and have eaten cooked chicken that's been left out all night and day, never been ill. Though I know it's not for everyone

dementedpixie · 12/07/2020 21:21

chicken maybe but not the rice

Bin it! It's been a hot day. Cheese on toast?

Impatientwino · 12/07/2020 21:25

I would heat it until it resembles molten lava then eat it!

Moltenpink · 12/07/2020 21:28

If it’s a tomato based sauce it might be ok, don’t risk rice though

Frownette · 12/07/2020 21:30

Yep I would

Disclaimer: no suing if anything happens

superram · 12/07/2020 21:30

I’m very lax about this and I wouldn’t eat the rice or chicken.

Namechangex10000 · 12/07/2020 21:31

I would. I’d eat rice too. Honestly, I’m not all that careful with rice at all and have never been ill. I’m not suggesting everybody fucks off the rules on rice, it’s just never been something I’ve understood 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mnhealth202020 · 12/07/2020 21:37

I can be quite fussy with leftovers, but I think I’d possibly risk it depending on what it is and what it currently looks like - ie has the texture or smell changed?

Back in my university days, my flatmates and I would eat leftover takeaway all the time - no one got illGrin

Oblomov20 · 12/07/2020 21:38

Left over takeaway is the best thing ever.
I have never been ill from it.

userxx · 12/07/2020 22:03

I've done this a fair few tines and I've been fine, even with rice.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 12/07/2020 22:05

I always have leftovers the next day. Just nuke it in the microwave til it's hotter than the sun. Rice included. Delicious!

ladybird69 · 12/07/2020 22:05

It’s Chinese chicken curry and rice! It looks ok but I don’t fancy food poisoning so I guess it’s beans on toast. Not quite the same. ☹️

I've never been ill from my reheated takeaway curries etc. But I generally have a pretty iron stomach. DH doesn't so he eats his all on the night (plus he's greedy!).

Mnhealth202020 · 12/07/2020 22:29

Google seems to suggest you’re okay if you heat it up very well - use the hob, v high heat for 2 minutes, stir continuously etc. The rice is still risky but again, I’ve never had food poisoning. If anything, just make some fresh rice to be safe
