My mum is staying indoors due to covid until august 1st, and she is really looking forward to me taking her to car boot sales.

Which i do love, but.............my mum is only looking for books.
I love searching for vintage china, the search for a 1950s teapot with no chips for example. I get a real thrill for that sort of find.

My mum, she like books about murders and serial killers. As she browses, she makes critical comments to the seller, like ' not enough murders in this one' or ' huh, this one killed them far too quickly' or ' not enough violence in this one, he could of made more of a effort'

Its a bit creepy to be honest, as my mum looks like a reasonably sweet grandmother type.
I tend to pretend she isnt with me, but realistically if you were to point out mother and daughter by looks alone in a crowd, that's us.

Anyone else have this issue?

and btw my mum isnt violent person, and hasnt actually killed anyone.

Is your mother interested in writing for Inside No 9 !!

Personally, I would lean in to this.

Dress as her minder, all in black, and stare into the middle distance saying ‘Very good Mrs Custard’ every time she makes a blood thirsty observation.

She sounds like one of those serial killers in plain sight, taunting the authorities while living an outwardly innocuous life.

I was once walking home from school reading a true crime book. I walked past a parent and child. They then emailed the school complaining because someone in my job (primary teacher) shouldn't be reading those books! Maybe they thought I was using them as study books!

I used to work in a library and all the sweet little old ladies used to get very excited when we got new crime and thrillers in. I got drawn into a fair few uncomfortably gruesome conversations about them too! She's not alone!

This sounds like the start of an excellent cosy.
