I loved The Notebook

shartsi · 11/07/2020 22:11

Loved the notebook. It's my favourite romance movie. I think it's the last time that Ryan Gosling looked good.

Overseasmom100 · 11/07/2020 22:11

I might give it a go

Although years ago, loved it! Cried my eyes out. Would recommend if it’s chick flick you’re after!

MrsEricBana · 11/07/2020 22:13

It's fantastic! Definitely go for it.

About Time - think it's on Netflix, I prefer that to The Notebook.

FunTimes2020 · 11/07/2020 22:17

It's a great film, OP. But have tissues at the ready! Report back afterwards with your verdict!

Overseasmom100 · 11/07/2020 22:23

Ok Im going in...will report back. Thank you

I thought it was was one the worst movies. Don’t get the fuss at all. And I like Ryan Gosling.

Kez200 · 11/07/2020 22:29

Be interesting to see what you think. I loved it but then, thinking twice, its not a great relationship. The other guy was the best, really!

ShowOfHands · 11/07/2020 22:30

It's schmaltzy, sentimental shite but if you like chick flicks, you might just like it.

Overseasmom100 · 12/07/2020 00:17

Ummm well just finished it was....
Ok Hmm not great Confused

Oh god, it's entirely overrated - I was so bored

FattyBoom · 12/07/2020 00:19

And I'm a HUGE fan of chick flicks. Genuinely think it was over hyped - the amount of friends that practically cry at the name is ridiculous

LoseLooseLucy · 12/07/2020 00:20

Just about to say it's shit 😬

Ilovesausages · 12/07/2020 00:24

I watched it a few years ago and just remember sobbing and sobbing!

Graphista · 12/07/2020 00:59

I have to grudgingly admit I love a good chick flick (I prefer to think of myself as more nerdy sci fi fan but yea I love a chick flick too)

I've never seen, but I don't fancy it as I cannot stand gosling! I've seen him in a couple of his smaller roles and he's a shite actor!

Personally my recommendations are:

About time - truly EXCELLENT and thought provoking film with a sweet heart

Katherine heigl is a favourite of mine, it's just a shame she's apparently murder to work with as if she wasn't there'd be more of her films. I especially like life as we know it, the ugly truth, 27 dresses (TOTAL chick flick), and killers

The proposal - worth watching for Ryan Reynolds half naked and wet, Betty white and the bachelorette party alone! Fabulous film!

13 going on 30

Legally blonde

Steel magnolias

In her shoes - more depth than you might think but then toni Collette rarely disappoints

First wives club

Hustlers isn't really a chick flick but it's female led and definitely interesting and absorbing.

10 things I hate about you - though I must admit I find it a tough watch since heaths passing one of dds favourites

For fluff but fun - bring it on!

Pitch perfect - I was dragged along to the first by dd but I LOVE these! All of them! Great to singalong to too.

Which leads me onto....

A possibly controversial and quirky choice - a simple favor

But I do love Anna Kendrick, again not a chick flick but I like her in the accountant too

Failure to launch - generally not an SJP fan but I love Mathew mcconnaughey and Zooey deschanel and her sub plot is hilarious

Just a few for you to be going on with
