Secrets in the family (lighthearted)

So we’re living on a HUGE secret that would devastate my DD1 who’s 8.

Several years back, when she was around 5, she left her beloved teddy, Daisy, at a family members’ house who’d we had visited for the weekend.

Cue crying at bedtime when we got back. Family member posted Daisy back to us, but she never showed up.

We waited. And waited. And eventually gave up following an argument with Royal Mail, and brought “Daisy” again (luckily an Amazon bear, easily replaceable). Peace restored in our household, by the “fake Daisy”

A month later, real Daisy showed up. I hid her in our wardrobe for a few months and completely forgot about her. Fast forward to that Christmas, when I was sorting crap out, I found really Daisy and we decided to reintroduce her as “Dotty”, Daisy’s long lost twin sister, via the knobber Elf on a Shelf, with a little note to ask my DD if she’d look after Dotty as much as Daisy.

Fast forward 3 years and “Dotty” (the actually Daisy) is relegated to the bottom of the bed and fake Daisy gets prime place with my dd Shock

This secret can never ever come out! Poor Dd, and now poor ‘Dotty’. Having watched Toy Story recently, I wonder if the toys all gathered together each night when DD goes to sleep; they must console poor “Dotty” for being second best 🤣

So, any silly secrets in your household or family you’re willing to share?

Had similar. Real and treasured 'doggy' never turned up after leaving it in Spain, but fake doggy miraculously appeared but minus his collar as I couldn't find one with the damned collar. I wonder what happened to his collar, asks teenage DD every now and then.Confused

Other one is the pet rabbit, that got out but happily jumped away to start a new life. Aka Next door neighbours dog got into the hutch and killed it.

@dialmformmmm impressed that the little white lie is still going into the teens. Perhaps I’ll mention it on DD’s 18th birthday? Wink

And not good about the poor bunny. I think I would have to lie about that!

@JackSpud it only matters that those babies grow up knowing they’re loved by you.

(I also had egg donation, albeit known, but could have ended up as unknown had it not have worked first time, so appreciate this process very much)
