@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

Yesterday. Leicester starts summer holidays a week early for some reason that's usually a good thing as we get a week to go on holiday or theme parks while other schools are still in session. This year, not so much with the extended Leicester lockdown 🙁
So in Leicester, you could start yR at 3 if it was a few days before a 4th birthday when the term starts at the end of August.

I know I find it odd when my Leicester friend goes back around August bank holiday.

QueenofLouisiana · 11/07/2020 21:06

17th for DS and I (different schools) 22nd for DH. All in Suffolk.

amgine · 11/07/2020 21:06

Should have been the 22nd but they’ve brought it forward so they can get the kids who’ve not been in school (yrs 2-5) in in small groups to met next years teachers between the 20th and 22nd. Which I think is a great idea.

14th July - can't bloody wait!

binkyblinky · 11/07/2020 21:10

Wednesday this week, Milton Keynes

Zisforstripyoss · 11/07/2020 21:59

Ours broke up yesterday (10th July). We're Leicestershire and usually break up and go back a week earlier than the rest if the country, for some reason.

Zisforstripyoss · 11/07/2020 22:01

@BogRollBOGOF Yes, there's a lad in my DD's class who's birthday is the last few days of August and he started before he'd turned 4! I do think they should keep those kids back, but hey, what do I know.

I went to school in Leicester in the 70s and 80s. The start of the holidays used to be around the of 1st July. The reason for this was to tie in to the 'Leicester Fortnight' when all the factories in Leicester closed down in the first 2 weeks of July. I guess the start of the school holidays has moved back a bit since then but is still earlier than other areas.
