Positive Pregnancy Test - Contraceptive Implant

Hi please help. I’ve had the contraceptive implant for 2.5 years and never had any problem. I can still feel it in my arm and everything. A few weeks ago I started getting sick at the smell of bananas, which has only ever happened to me before when pregnant. Long story short I took a test and it’s positive.
I’m now really scared. How did it happen? And after doing some reading I’ve found a load of stuff that says this pregnancy is much more likely to be an ectopic? Do I need to see the GP ASAP? I’ve booked an appointment for a phone consultation but it’s not until the end of next week. Sad I’m happy to continue with the pregnancy. Although it’s been a massive shock. I’m just now worried that’s it’s either an ectopic or doomed in some other way because of the implant. And how did it happen?

It happened because no contraception is 100% effective for 100% of users, I got pregnant on the contraceptive injection and then several years later while on the pill and using condoms alongside. It happens.

There is a slightly higher risk of an ectopic pregnancy but only slightly and the majority won't be ectopic. If you get any symptoms that it may be then seek emergency medical help (A&E).

Thanks @BankofNook I guess you never think you are going to be in the almost minuscule percentage of people that the implant fails for. My BMI is really low (16) I thought that would stop me getting pregnant too. I keep looking at the many tests that are all positive and I can’t quite believe it.
